Great padlock,

I love the custom word function for this lock. It is far quicker to open and easier to see than the typical round spin lock I was using. I recommend it. Had I been able to choose the color, I would have been happier, though.

This lock came with additonal letter wheels with commonly used letters. This enabled the user to creat almost any word to be used as a combination. Everyone that sees the lock really thinks that it is so unique and effective for our use. Easily remembered combo for multiple users.....no need to keep a key handy or hidden.....number combos are hard to remember.

I just love the concept of the words in the lock. Master Lock (like Wordlock) has also come up with a create your own word password which is great for the integer challenged.
One reviewer seems to like the Master Lock version better than the Wordlock version and, of course, I agree that there are always personal preferences and some environments where a Master Lock might be necessary. But in my gym and in other similar situations, neither would have a problem. Most children prefer the ease of the word locks. The ease of use and your lock situation should determine what you feel comfortable in using. Wordlock also has a very similar design and works the same way. Since I have seen both, I really cannot see a major difference in the quality or any real security difference. I happen to like them both; and the consumer should decide which of these two product lines would suit their needs the best. Master Lock has however been a known quantity for a long time and that might be more comfortable for many. I wonder who came out with the concept first: Todd Basche and wordlock or Master Lock. Very innovative for both. Word Lock seems to have multiple cool color selections; but the Master Lock selection is very attractive and extremely reliable and sturdy. The Word Lock concept is what is innovative and the stand-out. Both the Master Lock version or the Wordlock version are equally safe for light, security situations like the gym or school. The Master Lock feels heavier. I, however, prefer lighter product lines as long as they are sturdy, reliable and secure; but if given either product line, I would be hard pressed to fault either. The consumer should decide on what lock matches their personal preferences and security situation and whether a word lock of any kind would be satisfactory. What is really innovative is the concept of using words versus integers which is really a boon for the integer challenged like myself.
