5.0 out of 5 stars nice locks
use for lockers in gym. with two gym bags and two gyms, i aways seemed to have the gym bag without my lock. i now have one on each gym bag with only one combination to remember! great locks at a reasonable price. the only negative is that they are a big larger than a typical gym lock which means that they are heavy.

An Excellent indoor lock. The changeable combination is nice for those like me with a poor short-term memory. I can use my favorite numeric combination.

Still, I live in Alaska, and the weather is not the best. I guess there are just too many moving parts inside, but any time I tried using it outside, it kept freezing up. Makes it hard to get back in the house! Regular keyed padlocks have not yet let me down.

Again, a great lock, if you can keep it from freezing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Combination mechanism isn't very accurate, September 14, 2008

The lock seems sturdy enough, but the combination recognition isn't very accurate. For example, if I set my combination to 2-4-8-4, the lock will also accept 2-3-8-3 and 2-4-8-3. Regardless, I'm sure it would discourage casual petty theft as any person truly determined to get your stuff would probably just use a bolt cutter anyways.

This lock is so easy to use and I will never again buy a lock that I can't remember the conbination for causing me to just throw it away! It's not too big for the lockers at the local YMCA or the waterpark. My 7 year old daughter manages to get in and out with no problem. Very good buy, nice quality.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy lock, but difficult to use, October 24, 2007

I haven't had the chance to actually use the lock yet, so far I only had time to set the combination of the lock, and tried it out couple of times. The lock seems pretty sturdy, however, the numeric pad is a little difficult to turn, which makes unlocking a little difficult. (which could be a good thing I guess) Also, even at the right combination, I have to have both hand on the lock, push and pull the lock really hard for couple of times before I can actually open the lock. Can't imagine what I'll do if it's actually on a locker and I can't get both hand on the lock, but perhaps a little WD40 will help?? Again, this could be a feature that makes lock more secure by making it harder to unlock I guess...

I went with the trusted Master name and bought this to replace a keyed lock on my patio gate. It looks great and feels very sturdy. Setting the combination was no problem (even with a flimsy setting key), and it opened just fine when I was testing it before locking it onto anything. Snapped it onto the gate, and the first time I used it, it opened fine. The second time, it took a lot of fiddling. The third time... no go. I've had 3 different people try it on several occasions, and it just won't budge. Maybe it's from having been outside, but the number dials are harder to turn. Seems rather silly though, for a bit of rain to affect a lock that's likely to be used outside. So much for having an "easier" lock that didn't require searching for a key to open it. As soon as I can get it off the dang gate, I'm sending it back to Master.

This is the worst lock ever. Its not Amazon's fault though its Master-lock's fault. Unless you have 15 minutes to input the combination 15 times do not buy this lock. This is actually the first product that Ive bought that I actually didn't like. I assumed buying a name brand lock would eliminate any worries of a faulty product but I was jipped. :-(

4.0 out of 5 stars It does the job., October 27, 2009

It's fair enough to use, no problems, just minor technicalities. The key given to change the combination is very weak, it's very easy (due to inexperience) to insert it wrong and bend the key out of place. A 2nd replacement key and/or a stronger key would be one way this product could be better. The combination precision is a bit loose, rather than having latches told hold numbers in place. But overall, the lock does it's job - Besides, if someone really wanted to get by your gate or something, they would probably just climb over!

The mechanism on this is a bit sloppy, possibly making it easier to guess the combination, but I'm not locking up the crown jewels, so I'm not really worried. It's easy to set the combination with the included "key".

this lock is perfect for my purpose - gym locker lock. it's heavy/sturdy and the combination dials are easy to view and rotate (at least for my average size fingers - it might be difficult for someone with larger fingers). i love that i can change the combination.
