This bungee cord is special due to its adjustability. One of the end hooks is fixed, the other can be positioned anywhere along the stretch cord to effectively change the cord length. The cam-like design works beautifully and it allows rapid adjustments so the cord always provides just the right amount of tension.

July 25, 2009 update:
I've used this cord to strap boxes and painting supplies to a rolling cart. At first I didn't fully trust the mechanism, so I'd use an extra, traditional bungee cord, as well. Lately, after almost a year of use, I fully trust the Master Lock Adjustable cord and have stopped using the other, redundant, cord. The cam design does not slip, even with the vibration of rolling the cart for miles over bumpy streets! After a year of very heavy use, the stretch cord is showing some signs of wear, but the plastic hooks and cam mechanism are fine. It still works perfectly and I've just ordered another two because I like this product so much.

What can I say? really do the job in combination with a MAGNA CART PERSONAL HANDTRUCK, the cord is strong and elastic, you can adjust the long of the cord to get more preasure and lock the objects that you were assuring, really good purchase for few bucks!

This is much better than an ordinary bungee cord for uses where you need strength and firmness. The cord has a strong flex that will stretch less than a regular cord, which means it holds things in place much better. This is nicely compensated for by having it fully adjustable from 6" to 40" un-stretched. And it will, with a good deal of stress, stretch an additional 50% of the length you have it adjusted to.

Because it doesn't stretch as much as ordinary bungees, be sure 40" un-stretched or 60" fully stretched (and tight!) will be long enough for your needs. If not, you can either search for a longer one or buy two so you can add them together.

The sturdy hooks are made of plastic-coated steel which is advertised as being stronger than the usual coated wire. The adjustment cam works very easily and intuitively and you can just pull it tight after you wrap it around what you are holding down. As another reviewer has reported, the actual locking mechanism is different than the one pictured on this product page; it appears to be an improvement because there is no way it can be released under tension without unhooking it, whereas the one originally pictured by Amazon looks like it could come loose if you accidentally pulled the cord pigtail out of the locking notch. I will add a photo of what you will get to the reviewer-supplied photos at the top of this page.

The third hardware store guy figured out for me how to use it. No MasterLock instruction or good picture as to how to work it. It seems that the tension of the cord "in use" creates the pressure on the other end of the cam upside down semi-circle to hold the cord in place. My confusion arose because this cord is not an "at rest" clamp method: No tension means cord just slides through all the way to end. Several hardware store people and me could not figure out how to work it since it was not stretched. Thus, know that you have to have it STRETCHED some to generate the pressure needed to keep the cord jammed "shorter" by the Cam Lock.

This bungee cord seems to be well-build and is very easy to adjust, so it would work well for a lot of applications. However, it does not stretch as much as I would like for the travel cart I bought it for. If you are looking to use this because you need a firm cord, this will be perfect (keeping the trunk to a car closed around an oversized item, etc). If you need more give in it, another type of bungee might be better.

I'm really impressed with this bungee. Its adjustability makes one cord do the work of several non-adjustable ones--no more fumbling around trying to get the tension just right. The no-moving-parts CamLok feature is just ingenious!

The tension is perfect not too tight or too loose.

My reply ... buy two and connect them together for 6 to 80 inches (0.5 ft to 6.7 ft)

I purchased this item for use with a hand cart. I bungee my dive equipment to the cart. The Bungee itself is adjustable which is the primary reason I purchased it. The ends are a very durable plastic. The Bungee itself is very strong and has a lot of stretch. Really secures my equipment to the cart and prevents things from falling.

Arrived ahead of schedule and in great condition. Easy to adjust.More practical than you would think.
