Did the job...but not a bullet stopper,

This review is from: Master Lock 4682DBLK TSA Accepted Luggage Locking Strap, 78-Inches, Black (Tools & Home Improvement)
As the other reviewer pointed out, it does the job but it is plastic and it seemed to me that a good hit with some object or even some strong pulls on the strap (like a baggage handler using it as grip) would break it open.
I purchased this to secure a video camera case because security would not allow me to lock the case using the built-in keyed locks. So instead of leaving a few thousand dollars of equipment unlocked I needed a solution such as this strap to at least give me minimum lock ability and a small piece of mind. It worked great on three trips and stayed secure. I don't know if the TSA ever needed to open it or not but all was secure. The fourth trip did not fare so well, actually it is more of a mystery. The locking strap simply was gone at my destination. I have no idea what may have happened to it but all my case contents were still there. So there you go, at the very least the lock was released and somehow discarded by TSA knuckleheads or it broke during handling. I did purchase another one though so for me it does fill that bare minimum locking need.

Wonderful product idea. Borrowed a hard golf case from a friend but no way to use regular TSA lock. The locking strap looks perfect. Anyway, to the point... what good is a locking strap if I can adjust the size when it is locked and slip it off what ever it is strapped on. Sure, it takes a couple SECONDS. This is nothing but a cosmetic product unless you are going to strap it to something that is around 78-inches so someone can't just adjust the size and get at whatever you thought you were protecting. A more logical version of this would be more like a belt where the lock wouldn't allow any adjustment to the size unless you opened the lock. Learn from my lesson and don't buy this product.

Just what I needed,

This TSA accepted luggage strap was just what I needed for my trip overseas that involved several connecting flights. My only concern as many other reviewers have mentioned, is the durability of the lock part itself. The lock is made out of hard and bulky plastic- considering how luggage tends to get roughed up, it seems to be a matter of time/luck just how long it'll last without cracking or breaking apart. However, this seems to be the only TSA accepted locking strap available as of now. I look forward to an upgraded version one day. So far, it has survived through six overseas flights with no damage.

Good Idea, but. . .,

The first strap I ordered didn't function correctly in that I never was able to set my own code. I had to pick the TSA lock (disturbingly easy to do) over and over again when the code I was trying to set wouldn't take, but the strap would lock up on some other code. I ordered a replacement from Amazon, which they sent very quickly, but it doesn't function much better than the first. At least, with this strap, I was able to figure out what errant code it set itself to in spite of my trying to set a code. I now use that code, and I've quit trying to set my own. Between the problems with personal code setting and the ease with which the TSA locking mechanism can be over-ridden, I wouldn't really recommend this as a security measure. As just a strap to keep your luggage closed? Eh, ok. Whatever. I'm sure there's cheaper out there though if you want that kind of thing.

Simple to adjust the length of the strap and easy to change the combination. The TSA accepted lock means I can now lock my old luggage before I send it off to the bowels of the airport. Now I don't need to worry about unauthorized intrusion into my bags.

Ok, so it did what it was supposed to do... stayed locked. But, it seemed pretty flimsy to me... its made out of plastic so it seemed like it would break if it was hit hard.

What's the use of buying a secure luggage strap when it is all but that. Although tough, once you have locked it into place, you can just pull on the adjustment and release the whole thing again. I would not recommend this item at all unless you just want to use it to haul your bag around.
Disgusted

I lost 3 belts at different times and airlines. Finally decided to invest in this TSA locked belt. Voila, no more lost belts. Strong and secure. Just remember the combination to the lock!

I purchased this luggage strap with built in TSA locks to make sure my luggage stays together if the zipper fails or to keep out casual thieves. However, the lock is bulkier than some of the competition, and the plastic pieces fit together in a rather awkward fashion...not a very quick release---too hard to describe here. If I had looked a little longer I would have discovered a competitor has a trimmer lock with an easier fastening system. But for what it does it is okay for now. The combination to the lock was easy to reset to my own combo but be advised that if you travel outside the US, not too many other countries have the key for TSA locks so you are liable to get your strap/lock cut off if they decide to search your checked luggage and you are not present.
