5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tool
Item works as described. Had no problem compressing strut springs. Like the fact that it has safety pins so the tool won't slip off the spring.

3.0 out of 5 stars not for big springs
I ordered this compressor (the package said manufactured for OEM Tools in Taiwan ) and used it on a 2000 Tundra, but the spring is a 11/16 diameter and the safety latches would hit the spring and would not lock into place. It looks like a 9/16 or smaller spring wire diameter would be OK for using the safety latches. Also at full compression the screws were bending...

3.0 out of 5 stars not for big springs, February 2, 2011
This review is from: Master Macpherson Strut Spring Compressor
I ordered this compressor (the package said manufactured for OEM Tools in Taiwan ) and used it on a 2000 Tundra, but the spring is a 11/16 diameter and the safety latches would hit the spring and would not lock into place. It looks like a 9/16 or smaller spring wire diameter would be OK for using the safety latches. Also at full compression the screws were bending slightly. It worked and I got it changed but I was apprehensive. This tool is fine for lighter springs but for a pickup truck or springs with a wire diameter greater than 9/16 I suggest getting a heavy duty model.

5.0 out of 5 stars A safe spring compressor, July 13, 2009

After working with a Harbor Freight compressor, this tool is like night and day. The safety pins are an ingenious design, and the clamps are impressively stable as the screw is tightened. Well worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Well, January 5, 2011

I used this tool to remove coil-over-shocks on my Jaguar. Compressing springs is not for the "faint of heart", however the safety clips help to ensure that the tool does not slip off the compressed spring. It worked well for me, I would buy again!

I was a beginner, but I could use it and change spring on my car by myself. It may be a little bit difficult to keep the spring and this compressor in line but its not so much difficult, you will get the hang of it.
