I would highly recommend this book to anyone taking the AFOQT. It helped me out a lot. I think the only reason I didn't get 100 on the exam was because I ran out of time on a few sections. So definitely take the practice exams in the back of the book with proper timing, It will really help. Before the exam I was the most worried about the math portion and after studying the book, Im pretty sure that was my strongest section.

It is a good book for showing a comprehensive list of things to study, but it lacks the section on Weather, and FAA rules. It'll help you pass the ASTB, but not to be competitive

Thanks guys... I really do appreciate this book. I ordered it on the 5th and it got to me in Iraq the next week. Here it is the 22nd and I've taken my AFAST and passed I'm on my way within a months time.

I purchased this one over the competing brand because of the reviews. I'm sorry to say while having glanced at the competing brand it offered much more knowledge and not only that but these books are outdated. They give you the basic concept but everything shown in the book was completely different for the test. Also, this book can be found in PDF format for free online...

Very helpful book, always has been. I've taken a few of these tests and this book, while not the only tool I use to prepare, is still a valuable tool to use.

I bought this book from Barnes & Noble in order to study for the AFOQT, which I just took this morning. Honestly, I'm not sure how helpful it was, especially with regard to the table reading and aviation knowledge sections. I suppose this might be useful if you just need more questions with which to practice under a timed condition, but... I dunno. The math, English, and science sections are all things you learned in high school and I think to really nail the aviation section you should probably be a pilot already. The table reading section you just kinda have to power through..

I bought this book in order to prepare for the Army's AFAST test. The section on Complex Movements was especially helpful as I was able to memorize the movement key for when I actually took the test. The images used in the book for Cyclic Orientation need to be updated. The images in the book are old and in some cases they take a couple of looks in order to figure out the orientation of the horizon. The images used in the real test have the out line of the aircraft windscreen imposed over the terrain. They are still useful for preparing though. The mechanical comprehension section could use a little updating as well, but the examples given in the test still give you a general idea of what to expect.

This book definitely helped me to prepare for the AFAST. I should get my score in a couple of days and I will post that when I do.

This book has everything you need. The edition I have (2009) spells out EXACTLY what I saw on the real thing, and asks questions that are harder than the real thing. If you already know basic physics, and FAA rules, this book is almost all you need to study. Anyone who gives this book a bad review (AND took the ASTB) is just an idiot and is blaming this book for his own stupidity. He or she probably just skimmed through the book and thought that would be enough.

I do like this book for AFAST prep. The one downside to this book is the sections that ask questions based on pictures. The pictures in the book are poor at best and are in black and white.
