2.0 out of 5 stars A couple of good parts made this book ok, but on balance, I can't recommend it.
Nothing grabbed me. Nothing surprised or delighted me. This was a role reversal story. Llyr and his evil brother Ansgar rule two fairy kingdoms. Ansgar has been attempting to assassinate Llyr for 400 years. He killed Llyr's wives, children and others during that time. Llyr doesn't fight back because he's trying to play by the rules set by his father. Ansgar is not...

5.0 out of 5 stars another sizzling tale from red-hot writer Knight, May 13, 2005
This review is from: Master of the Moon (Mageverse, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Angela Knight has one original series going - witches, vampires and the children of Camelot. Though Master of the Moon is a stand alone title, you really will enjoy this even more if you have read Hot Blooded (a novella entitled "Seduction's Gift" kicks the series off), followed by Master of the Night. Knight has a very original, inventive tale. She takes old lore of Witches, Vampires, Faeries, Werewolves and mixes in Merlin, Arthur and the Gang, and creates something very fresh. It's hard to recall, it's only been a year since she made her mainstream book debut with Jane's Warlord!! Already, she is a force in red-hot romance! Her tales are strongly written, well-conceived and she boldly goes where no writers have gone before, and does it with such panache!

In this tale, you will meet characters you have touched upon in Master of the Night. You will already know about Llyr, the King of the Faeries. Llyr and his very evil brother. Llyr riles one branch of the Fae - the Cachamwri. His Nasty brother Ansgar rules the Morven Fae. The brothers were cursed by daddy dearest on his death bed with a wish they cannot kill the other. Well, being a nasty sort, Ansgar has gotten around this by killing the wives and children of Llyr. In this battle to save the Fae, Llyr is seeking an alliance with the Camelot vampires and witches.

Meanwhile back in the "normal" (lol) earth in present day, you meet Diana London. She is a police officer in Verdaville, South Carolina. Only, she is not too normal either. She is a shapeshifter - a werewolf. Diana is of the Dire Kind, a magical race conjured by Merlin as sort of a "police" to keep the vampires and faeries in line. This makes her a great asset to Llyr in his struggle to save everyone from Ansgar's evil intent.

Heads up, Angela Knight pushes the limited of everyday romance over into the romance-erotica blend called romantica. So if you don't like blistering hot sex, and lots of it, then you and great aunt Tilly should give this one a pass. Sorry, Ms. Knight makes no apologies. If you don't like this sort of level of intensity, then go find a kinder, gentler romance writer. Hey, there is room for all tastes in the Romance Market. However, if you like your romance on the red-hot fiery side, but really want something more than erotica, you want a full-bodied tell that is fascinating, riveting, and so very original, then get all three Hot Blooded, Master of the Night and Master of the Moon. If you have read the first two works, then you won't want to miss this next in the series.

Knight is a one-woman force. Powerful writing leaving you singed and waiting for "Masters".

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic story in an exceptional series, May 3, 2005
By
This review is from: Master of the Moon (Mageverse, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Diana London is a City Manager and part-time policewoman in a small southern town. She's also a shape-shifter (a werewolf). She uses her enhanced abilities to help keep her town safe, although she keeps her nature a secret.
Lyr is King of the faeries and has been visiting Diana in her dreams. He's had his own battle going, fighting to keep his people safe from his evil brother Ansgar.
When rogue vampires start attacking citizens of Diana's town, Lyr is sent to help. The trouble from the vamps as well as the sparks between Lyr and Diana fly.
This is another exceptional story from Angela Knight. The story continues from Master of the Moon, although if you haven't <yet;> read that, this works as a stand-alone book too.
Diana is a wonderful strong heroine and Lyr is a strong, sexy, wonderful hero. Highly recommended! There is nothing like an Angela Knight story to keep you up reading until late in the night.

I enjoy paranormal stories placed in well constructed worlds. This one has a very interesting take on the source of the werewolf, fae and Arthurian legends I grew up with, tying them together in a new and novel way. I can usually tell how good a story is by how long it lasts. This lasted barely three days. That is very good! An even better indicator is when I try to figure out who is handy enough and tolerant enough to listen to a few choice (funny) lines read aloud. This had a fair number of such spots through the book.

The only real complaint I have with Angela Knight's book is probably due to my age. The language is a little bit raunchy in spots.

I liked king Llyr and his mother too. His mother's fretting over having grandpuppies if he marries Diana is a delight. I'm grateful we spent no more time on angst over Janieda and her dying for her king in the book Master of the Night than we did. There is quite enough drama and tears in real life. I read for escape and appreciate humor. Thank you Angela for a good story.

4.0 out of 5 stars A howling good time!, May 12, 2005

Don't let Grandma read this book unless she has a good pacemaker!

If you read Master of the Night ( and I strongly suggest that you do before reading this book ) than you know that our hero King Llyr is king of the fairy's. Well, King of the Cachamwri fairies atleast. As it turns out Llyr has an evil brother who rules the Morven fairies. They've been cursed by their father's death bed wish to not outright kill the other. Though the evil brother, Ansgar, has hired assasins over the last 1600 years who have killed 4 of Llyr's wives and all 10 of his children.

In another bid to closely ally himself with the Vampires and maga that also exist in this alternate Earth, and thus win himself a hardier bride, Llyr is seeking out some of the evil vamps from the last book. To that end he travels to Verdaville, South Carolina the territory of a very protective werewolf named Diana. She's Dire Kind a race also created by Merlin, just like the Magekind of Llyr's world. Dire Kind were created just in case the other magical creatures went bad so Diana is imperviouse to both the evil vamps & the fairies magic. This makes her an incredible asset to Llyr. Also she's conveniantly the city manager and reserve cop...plus you know she's in heat and Llyr's last mistriss got KO'ed so you can see where this is headed.

Warning! There are quite explisive sex scenes every chance Ms Knight (known to be a scintillatingly steamy author)could take. One wonders if Diane isn't actually a werebunny! But it works for this book. Not a brilliant read lke her Forever Kiss, but still very enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Miss Paranormal Series!, June 17, 2005

The Palace of the Cachamwri Sidhe
2033rd year of Dearg Galatyn's Reign
The magical version of Earth.

Dearg has been ambushed and mortally wounded during a fight with the Dark One. Even the aliens Merlin and Nimue can not save him. Upon his deathbed he gives each sons one of his kingdoms to rule. Llyr is given the Cachamwri throne and Ansger will be the king of the Morven Sidhe. This decree enrages Ansger, for you see, he has been jealous of his younger brother since his birth. Llyr was born with a tattoo-like mark of the Dragon. One son in every generation has the mark; it is called the Mark of the Heroes. With this mark atany given hour, Lylr can call on the Cachamwri in times of great urgency. This mark makes him the true and only heir to the Cachamwri throne. Ansger will stop at nothing to see Llyr dead. With his last life forces, Dearg will create a spell so the two brothers can not personal harm or kill each other.

One year later and now on Mortal Earth.

Diana is the city manager and a volunteer reserve officer for a small town. Diana is also Direkind, meaning she is a werewolf. She is having a hard time controlling her once a year, what we would call in-heat cycle. Along with that, she has been dreaming of a gorgeous man with long luscious blond hair and a body to die for. A killer has entered her little town, she will fight for the town's people she considers her own. When the FBI steps in to assist, not only, are they not FBI agents, but the head guy is the one from her dreams. The king of the fairies himself, Llyr. Oh boy, is she in trouble, he is even better looking in person and the burning moon is raging in her!

MASTER OF THE MOON is the second in this series. MASTER OF THE NIGHT was the first and MASTER OF WOLVES will be the third and next upcoming in this brilliantly mastered series.

The moment you pick-up this book, the story will start to unfold right before your very eyes. Ms. Knight does an excellent job of filing in the gaps not previously mentioned or disclosed in the MASTER OF THE NIGHT. MASTER OF THE MOON could easily be a stand-alone book, but once you read it, you will be going back for more!

Ms. Knight's deliciously wicked sense of humor and slightly off colored jokes will have you shaking your head with laughter. You will love Llyr confusion with what he called our Earth slang. It will make you laugh-out-loud. The love scenes and steamy dialogue between Llyr and Diana are blistering! Lyre's arrogance and sexual savage heat will leave you panting for more.

As always, Ms. Knight's writing is engaging and infectious. MASTER OF THE MOON, is so believable, your emotions become entangled with the characters, your thoughts become theirs. Their love is your love. Ms. Knight did not make one wrong move and this story reads like a song, it was beautiful! The only thing you will not like is that the story will end.

Ms. Knight is not only an extraordinarily talented writer and artist; she is also a kind and considerate person. This makes for an unbeatable winning combination, in this reviewer's opinion. MASTER OF THE MOON deserved all 5 hearts, plus some. On the pedestal of paranormal greatness; there is only a handful that residue upon it for this reviewer, one of them being ANGELA KNIGHT. If you only read one paranormal book this year, please make it MASTER OF THE MOON, it is a must read for 2005!

This review is from: Master of the Moon (Mageverse, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read a short story of Knights in an anthology that contained the witches and vampires concept (Galahad it was called) and thought, wow, what a great idea. I had no idea she actually developed that concept further with this book and Master of the Night.

This one is my favorite so far. It is about a young city clerk and part time policeman volunteer who just so happens to also be a werewolf. Diana's race was created by Merlin as a fail-safe in case the the vampires and witches would become bad, since the werewolves were immune to magic. No one knows they exist except Llyr, the king of the faries. He was told by Merlin before he departed for other worlds in need.

The werewolves on the other hand know all about faries, vampires, and witches. (Others names for these entities are used in this book, but I choose these for those who are not familar with this topic). Only, one of the bad vampires had come to Diana's town and is killing the local young men in a really horrible way. Diana is determined to stop the strange creature.

Meanwhile, the good guys living in the magical parallyl universe are setting out to stop the rogue, evil vampires when they come across the killing in Diana's town from a copy of the local newspaper. Llyn recognizes Diana's face from an erotic dream he had about her the previous night and volunteers to set out for the the town and destroy the vampire.

Yeah, yeah, I know it sounds corney, but you really have to give it a chance. Knight's story is interesting, funny, and is hard to put down once she get started.

Happy reading!

At first, I was a little disappointed to learn that Knight was shifting the focus from vampires in the first book to werewolves. However, this was an excellent read. Now that she got all the "world building" out of the way in Master of Night, she jumped right into a rousing story. Many characters re-occur from the first book and Llyr and Diana have great checmistry. I highly recommend this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Master of the Moon, August 20, 2006
This review is from: Master of the Moon (Mageverse, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Diana London is not what she seems. She works for the city of Verdaville, SC and she's a werewolf. A werewolf on the hunt for a serial killer that also happens to be an evil vampire sorceress.

In order to stop the vampire's killing rampage, Diana finds herself working with none other than the King of the Fairies, Llyr Galatyn. The same Llyr that has recently been the star of Diana's erotic dreams...

I love the Mageverse series! With vampires, werewolves, and fairies, what's not to love? I am especially hot for Llyr. He is seriously sexy and really knows how to burn up the sheets!

Although Master of the Moon is part of the Mageverse series, it can be read as a stand alone. But with such terrific characters and world building, why wouldn't you want to read every book in this series? And I really enjoyed Master of the Moon! With a hard won fight between good and evil and an erotically charged romance, Angela Knight's Master of the Moon is a delicious read!
