5.0 out of 5 stars A Helpful Look at the "Other" Side of D/s
Most of what I've read so far deals with the physical side of BDSM. I have enough "how-to" manuals to last a lifetime. This book was refreshing, because it delved more into the psychology of the subject than the physical. It's refreshing to see common sense thrown at the lifestyle in this way. It doesn't happen enough. Too many egos and not even honesty. Kudos to the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Misleading title
I purchased this book hoping to find information and "how to" training a potential submissive. I was looking for tips and hopefull a new approach on guiding someone to serve. Instead this book is another BDSM 101. Each chapter explores an aspect of the alternative world... What is the meaning of BDSM, what is a training collar, what is a Gorean relationship.....

I feel the title is misleading and the book is another book geared toward people who are new or curious about the lifestlye. It doesn't bring anything new for people who have already started their exploration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book to understand the lifestyle, July 26, 2008

This review is from: Master Nage's Guide to Training Consensual Slaves (Paperback)

I thought this book excellent for its insights into the psychological drives of those who would be slaves and the responsibility that the master has towards them. I have not seen such insights in any other book on the subject so I must give it five stars for that reason.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit autobiography a bit handbook, November 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Master Nage's Guide to Training Consensual Slaves (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book. To be completely honest there are better guidebooks for the lifestyle out there. However, this book was like talking to your favorite uncle who happened to kinky and who was happy to tell you everything about his personal experience. It was an easy read, almost conversational, without a bunch of jargon or academic analysis. There were some helpful hints in the book. Overall it is half autobiography and half handbook. If you find this book at a good price and if you are curious it will make a decent read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Godo book on the emotional aspects of D/s, September 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Master Nage's Guide to Training Consensual Slaves (Paperback)
I purchased several books from amazon on this subject and this is my favorite. This is now a how-to manual for specific kinks. (For that, I would recommend _The Loving Dominant_) Instead the book considers many of the emotional aspects of erotic submission and slavery. I found that the book provided a lot of excellent insight into my relationship as well as the D/s world in general. I would highly recommend this book for someone who is looking for insight or guidance outside the bedroom.

Howerver, Master Nage's approach is at times inflexible. Putting a lot of emphasis on specific ways of meeting people, and specific ways that he structured relationships. (For example, collaring and contracts.)
