A recommended book from Elevated Therapy,
By
This review is from: Master The Power Of Self-Hypnosis: Program Your Subconscious to Attain Health, Wealth & Happiness (Paperback)
The book has many techniques and powerful methods that can help you change your life in all sorts of ways! C. Roy Hunter answers many frequently asked questions about hypnosis, and he uses simple, creative exercises to help you empower yourself, overcome psychic obstacles, "creatively" daydream and I particularly liked his use of affirmations to remove ingrained negative programming that is holding you back. When willpower just isn`t enough (outside of therapy) to enable you to make the changes you want in your life, then this book is a great help to you at home in private. (Michael)

Outstanding Self Hypnosis Book,
This review is from: Master The Power Of Self-Hypnosis: Program Your Subconscious to Attain Health, Wealth & Happiness (Paperback)
This oversized book is a must for you to reach your goals, improve your health, and enhance performance. Rare is it the self hypnosis book you read about worth buying. This one is worth ten times the price. Hunter has done it again. Kevin Hogan, author of The Hypnotherapy Handbook and The Psychology of Persuasion

Mastering Self Hypnosis, Well Explained,
By Carol Denicker (Northport, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Master The Power Of Self-Hypnosis: Program Your Subconscious to Attain Health, Wealth & Happiness (Paperback)
As a fellow hypnotherapist, I became aware of fine reputation of Roy Hunter nearly a decade ago. Consequently, I attended several of his hypnosis-related seminars over the years and found them to be practical and enlightening. I think Roy Hunter is a generous teacher and author. As a budding hypnotherapist, I have read other of his books and they were helpful to me. From time to time... I still continue to refer to his books. Recently, I read "Master the Power of Self Hypnosis" with the notion of perhaps expanding the content of.. or broadening the scope of, the self-hypnosis classes that I teach. "Master the Power of Self Hypnosis" is far more than a collection of inductions and scripts. It is not merely a "how to" book. But if you want to learn how to produce deep relaxtion and how to formulate achievable goals, as well as how negative programming occurs, and how to reprogram positive self-beliefs through self-hypnosis, this book shows you how. If you see the value in understanding how and why self-hypnosis works and what to avoid in the process...read this book. More importantly, If you are truly willing to work attaining your ideal self empowerment... then, this book is for you!

Typical of poor-quality Self-Hypnosis books.,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Master The Power Of Self-Hypnosis: Program Your Subconscious to Attain Health, Wealth & Happiness (Paperback)
This book is poor quality and fundamentally misleading in places. There is nothing of value here which you can't get on the net for free. Just do a search for "Self-Hypnosis Scripts" If I taught my clients how to do self-hypnosis in this way I doubt if they would have much success. All the stuff about Alpha and Beta brainwaves is just an intellectual red-herring and tells you nothing practical about the attitudes of mind which facilitate trance induction. Hunter's style and his techniques are straight out of last century. If you read some of the old books you'll be surprised how little he has added. He provides very basic information and scripts for eye-fixation and progressive relaxation inductions but no real guidelines on how to make them more effective. He does not address the typical obstacles which, e.g., self-hypnosis groups tend to encounter and overcome. He doesn't provide adequate advice for clients who report that they have difficulty physically relaxing, or who feel excessively aware and analytic of the experience. This book provides about half the story of self-hypnosis and its the half which most people know already, or which they could find on the net or in any number of other books on the pop-psychology bookshelf.Don.

A practical guide to effective living,
By A Customer
This review is from: Master The Power Of Self-Hypnosis: Program Your Subconscious to Attain Health, Wealth & Happiness (Paperback)
This book has shown the importance of the programs your mind run. It also shows the benefits to gaining control of your subconscious, which drives everything you do. Finally, it shows just how to go about that task using hypnosis. The book is very readable, and it is apparent the author is well experienced at what he professes. I am using this as a practical guide to influence the way I approach every apsect of my life from being a parent to handling the every day stresses in the business world. I don't think I have begun to imagine the possibilities. Get this book and allow the rational conscious mind to drive the operation of the subconscious.

This is a great book that is easy to read and easy to understand. Basic questions about hypnosis are handled well and the book provides a source of information that will assist the reader in achieving his/her goals. If you enjoy this book like I have you will love How To Hypnotize Yourself Without Losing Your Mind, by Wayne Perkins. Roy Hunter does a great job once again! TQP

Excellent choice for a practical introduction,
By Todd I. Stark "Cellular Wetware plus Books" (Philadelphia, Pa USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Master The Power Of Self-Hypnosis: Program Your Subconscious to Attain Health, Wealth & Happiness (Paperback)
Roy has written one of the few books that I can recommend to people as a first practical introduction that doesn't lead the reader down some rosy path to thinking that hypnosis has magical powers or is a panacea. Hypnosis is a powerful tool for self-insight and in clinical settings, but its effect on the imagination can lead us in bizarre directions fairly easily compared to some of the current cognitive and behavioral techniques in psychology. But that's also the lingering power of hypnosis for us, it creates the conditions - sets the stage - for making more flexible changes in our thinking patterns. The fact that hypnosis is so easily misused is why a balanced, intelligent appraoch like Roy's is so important. My own exposure to hypnosis started very early, and I've been fascinated with it all my life. When I read a book on it, it is usually about new scientific research into how suggestion effects work and under what conditions because it seems to be that this kind of research tells us a great deal about the mind. Personally I don't consider hypnosis "how to do it" books extremely enlightening for people once they get the basic idea that the mind is heavily led by metaphor, and particular language patterns can bring particular different kinds of cognitive and emotional effects in us. A reasonably creative person can come up with better and more specific 'scripts' for themselves than most they can find in books fairly easy once they get the knack. But the problem is getting the initial knack and getting past the mystique of the art. Where Roy has done a tremendous service here is in getting you past the mystique and into a real understanding of hypnosis in a practical way so that you can begin to explore this fascinating art for yourself. My only negative comment about the books is that it relies on a model of the "subconscious mind" that I think is archaic to explain hypnosis. That is a relatively small criticism, however, since this is a practical book and not a psychology text intended to clarify such difficult topics in science and philosophy of mind. For people wanting to learn to hypnotize, I generally recommend starting with self-hypnosis along with a study of the science and the history behind it. And for your first exposure to self-hypnosis, one of your best bets would be Roy's excellent book here.

. The book instructs the reader on how to use self-hypnosis to change areas of his or her life that they would like to change.
I need to tell the reader that I have met Mr, Hunter several times and have attended several workshops that he conducted. I have also read all of his books. Mr. Hunter is responsible for inspiring me to be the best Hypnotherapist I can be. I also feel that I have had the best training from Mr. Hunter that I have had in all of my hypnosis training. The first part of the book educates the reader on the history and basic facts of hypnosis. The second part of the book informs the reader of the role of the Subconscious and how to program it. This part of the book also describes stress management. Part three describes the process of defining your goals for self-hypnosis and the process of putting them to work with self-hypnosis. Part four describes creative daydreaming, Part five describes how to inject power into your self=hypnosis. The book ends with a set of questions and answers about self-hypnosis and a glossery of hypnosis term. Finally, Mr. Hunter a;sp provides some self-hypnoosis scripts and affirmations.. This book is well written and in my opinion is the best book of self-hypnosis available. It is clearly written and Mr. Hunter gets his point across clearly on all subjects. My only complaint is that Mr. HUnter is too modest. He attributes his skills to his mentor, Charles Tebbits. Mr. Tibbets was a great hypnotist and is one of the pioneers of modern hypnotism. Mr. Hunter studied under Mr. Tebbits but I believe that Mr. Hunter has taken what he learned from Mr Tibbets about the art of self-hypnosis and taken it to new heights. I reccommend this book to anyone who is serious about making real changes in their life.

Very good and informative!,
This review is from: Master The Power Of Self-Hypnosis: Program Your Subconscious to Attain Health, Wealth & Happiness (Paperback)
I love this book! I was actually looking for another one by the same author, but came accross this instead...and I am glad that I did! I had already tranced out many times, but was getting bored with my technique, and found myself unable to go deeper than light or light/medium. Now I can achieve a deep trance, quite easily, too. I also had never realized the extent as to what hypnotherapy could accomplish (I admit I didn't even know it was a true profession...) but now, I feel so much more powerful with the knowledge I posess. I can walk into a room with a confident air, just knowing that I could probably talk anyone in circles with this stuff. This book was incredibly interesting and informative...I've never felt so relaxed in my life! I highly reccomend it, especially as a good self-help book. I didnt even get it for that, but it's a nice bonus! Now, on to the subconscious programming...
