Product Description

Teacher Review

Some families keep a card table set up in the family room with the current puzzle under construction spread out over the table top, adding a piece whenever they walk by. Marathon puzzlers will enjoy the eight cardboard puzzles in this Masters series, all realistic portrayals of American treasures built by humans. With four 500-piece puzzles and four walloping 1,000-piece masterpieces, the set should keep a family going for many months. The eight treasures included are the Statue of Liberty, the Washington Monument, The Capitol, the Liberty Bell, the Golden Gate Bridge, Mount Rushmore, the White House, and San Francisco cable cars. They're not called Masters Puzzles for nothing: these are challenging, difficult puzzles with limited color variation. Puzzles are great brain developers, encouraging small motor manipulation, visual patterning skill, and perseverance. Each one has a different color backing to help keep all the puzzles separated. --Lair Showalter, elementary school teacher and mother of three

I was very excited to receive this 8 pack gift pack as I love puzzles. I was disappointed to find that the pieces aren't fully interlocking and found that after completing one of the puzzles, there were 3 pieces left over and 2 "spaces" in the puzzle to put them into. No combination of those 3 pieces completed the puzzle. I am sure that this is just a fluke, but it did put me off the whole box.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mind numbingly bad, September 10, 2003
A Kid's Review

I was excited to pick up this puzzle pack for a reasonable price but now I can see why it wasn't even worth that much...

I worked the Liberty Bell first. (Note to people looking at the box, it's not the same picture on the puzzle). It seems they changed the picture printed on the puzzle, but forgot to change the box. The Liberty Bell puzzle is now almost 50% black. That wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that the pieces are so close in size, that even after you place a piece, you may realize later that there is a better fitting piece for that same spot. The previous reviewer might have been able to place two of his last three pieces by moving a piece here and there... I didn't even get the borders right and I am an experienced puzzler.

If you are looking for a small puzzle - 1000 pieces that is mind numbing because of the quality of the puzzle (I don't believe this was on purpose), than this is a great puzzle for you. But if you just want a puzzle that you can finish in an afternoon or two, at least the Liberty Bell puzzle in the pack is not for you.

I won't even bother to attempt the other 7 puzzles in the pack.

Inside the puzzle box are postcard size pictures of the puzzle that are no bigger than the pictures on the box itself.

Save yourself the time and trouble of finding this out on your own, find some other puzzles.

A well manufactured puzzle would have dissimilar pieces, while the pieces for the puzzle I tried were amazingly similar. I won't even finish the Liberty Bell.
