2.0 out of 5 stars Don't make this your first prep book, August 24, 2009

YAMAHA (Holden, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Master the SAT 2008 (Peterson's Master the SAT) (Paperback)
Peterson's SAT's not for students who struggle with the exam. If you are moderately fair at taking the SAT's ( score of 550+, i'd say) you may want to use this book for their featured tests only- if you run out of other resources that is. More tests you try the better off you are so try as many tests as possible whether they're good or bad.

This book doesn't do a fair job explaining the reasons for the correct answers. Most comments are very shallow and half-hearted; for example, you should expect to see that the answer is such choice because the meaning of the word best fits the context- no less, no more. They also use the exact replica of one reasoning multiple times to explain similar type of questions. It's bit snobby actually.

So here's my verdict: use this book only once you've ran out of other resources.
In my opinion, Gary Gruber's SAT book is the best to start with.

1.0 out of 5 stars horrible, July 6, 2008
This review is from: Master the SAT 2008 (Peterson's Master the SAT) (Paperback)
This book has been proven to be disproportionately difficult when compared to an actual test. They cover far too many tests to actually specialize correctly. Be warned.
