Excellent collection of Moreau's best 1960s recordings, August 23, 2000

All the songs on this CD are great, there's hardly a weak one anywhere. Jeanne's personality just takes over and rules all these tunes, keeping things beautifully understated--not a trace of mawkishness anywhere. Like Dietrich before her it matters very little that she can't exactly sing in the usual sense of the term. There are hundreds of professional singers out there who couldn't do one tenth of what Jeanne does with these songs. As for the French orchestras accompanying her, they couldn't be more refined in their attention to detail.
