5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner........
The story of Caro and Max in Nicole Jordan's newest book Master of Temptation is one of enchantment. Set in the Mediterranean on the small island of Cyrene.
I think Nicole has out done herself in this one. The [adult] scenes, the emotion of losing loved ones, the adventure, and did I mention the [adult] scenes? I found Caro's role in this story a refreshing change...

3.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of love scenes, but characters are not engaging enough
True to NJ's style, there are plenty of sensual love scenes. But I find she has too much repetitive rambling thoughts going through the character's heads. Some of the actions/thoughts were quite cliché. Overall, it was still quite a fun read.

I found Caro's role in this story a refreshing change of pace from the typical 18th century London debutantes. Caro was enjoyable as the bold, independent healer and warrior. Max became enamored with her abilities and her caring nature. Max definitely needed Caro as his emotional healer due to his nightmares over his best friends death in the war. Caro needed Max to make her feel more like a desired woman rather than just `one of the guys'.
As the story unfolds to reveal the mystery of the secret society called the Guardians, the time spent between the two of them begins to sizzle. This romance turns passionate and the passion turns to a love unbound.
As much as I enjoy the notorious series of books by Nicole Jordan, I am already in love with the more laid back, open mindedness of the islanders.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book!, May 27, 2004

This review is from: Master of Temptation (Mass Market Paperback)
Master of Temptation shows exactly why Nicole Jordan is on my must-read list. I loved everything about this book. Caro and Max were both wounded, intriguing, complex, wonderful characters. The action/suspense was fast-paced and thrilling. The setting was beautiful and exotic. The sex was HOT and perfect for the story. This book actually was not as steamy as some of Nicole Jordan's other books (such as Ecstasy). There were two love scenes in the first 200 pages and four more in the last 200 pages, but those were incredibly passionate and developed into wonderful, healing love between Max and Caro. Overall Master of Temptation is a superb read that I highly recommend. I can't wait for the next book in this delicious new series. Brava, Ms. Jordan.

5.0 out of 5 stars More wonderful romance from Nicole Jordan..., June 10, 2004

...and I cannot wait for the next one! MASTER OF TEMPTATION has everything I love in a romance novel: a strong (but not obnoxious) heroine who is in no way ordinary, a back story which is compelling (the Guardians) but doesn't get in the way of the love story,
and of course a wonderful hero. Both the hero and the heroine have secrets of their own, which are slowly brought to light by the author, like layers being peeled from a (very good) onion....

But most of all I love the passion and the romance and the steaminess. It's the reason why I will ALWAYS buy her books. I am absolutely hooked on Ms. Jordan's novels, having only discovered them a couple of months ago. I have devoured all her NOTORIOUS series; all are "keepers", and I rarely want to reread a book, but wow!! I will definitely be re-reading hers!

If you want sensuous and heartfelt love and romance, you've come to the right place with this book, and certainly also with the NOTORIOUS series (The Passion, The Seduction, etc.).. I haven't read her other romances [from different subgenres], since I'm only into Regency-era novels, but I can hardly believe they'd be any less wonderful. That's because her writing is consistently satisfying. I can't say enough good things about her novels!

Thanking the author for many happy hours of reading pleasure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance Reader in Paradise..!, April 27, 2004

What an absolutely refreshing novel! An instant re-read!!

Being familiar with the elegant sensuality that is a trademark of any Nicole Jordan book, and lured by a promising Mediterranean paradise, I simply could not wait to get my hands on this book. I'm happy to report that it exceeded any and all of my expectations and I whole-heartedly recommend this book.

This novel has it all - an extremely tortured and brilliant hero; a strong, spirited and-not-a-beauty-queen-type heroine; intriguing storyline, excellent plot with lovely surprises; an incredible collection of secondary characters (this one I find quite hard to come by - I actually remember all of the characters well and wish I could read their individual stories).

Excellent work Ms. J! Thank you!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kudos for Ms. Jordan, June 14, 2004

Ms. Jordan does it again with another thrilling love story! This one takes place on the fictional Mediterranean island of Cyrene. The hero is a retired major named Max Leighton. He and his friend, Viscount Christopher Thorne go to Cyrene to help Caro Evers, who lives on the island. She is frantic because a dear friend of hers has been abducted and sold into slavery. Caro desperately needs the help of the Guardians of the Sword, an elite group of protectors that are based on the island. Viscount Thorne and Caro are actually part of this group and wish to enlist Max as one of their members. He is very hesitant to join because of all the time he has spent in the war. The problem is that he falls in love with Caro, but can't remain on the island with her unless he joins the Guardians.

This story is a must read..... It has just the right amount of action and romance to keep the reader intrigued! I'm looking forward to the "Lord of Seduction" and the rest of the Guardians'stories.

I absolutely adore Nicole Jordan's writing. I read this series in reverse order, and I have to say Master of Temptation was my favorite of them all. The story certainly got off with a *Bang* as our main characters sealed the deal in the prologue! It was a nice change from cookie cutter romances in that the attraction was immediate without any of the drawn out chasing and wooing into bed. With that out of the way, the falling in love aspect was more real (for me anyway). There were many wonderful and colorful characters in this tale of secret agents, adventure, and intrigue. Both our leads were strong, smart and fearless. The "money" scenes were quite well done and very steamy. All in all this was a very well rounded book. Nicely done and highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not quite as intense as her other series!, January 10, 2005

This review is from: Master of Temptation (Mass Market Paperback)
I love Jordan books - several I have read again and again --like Ecstacy!! This was good but perhaps it was the setting or maybe it was Caro - I am just not sure - but this was not the usual 5 star for me. I enjoyed the steamy scenes but even they did not compare to her other series. Mostly I just did not feel an in depth connection with the characters - Max I felt had much more to him than Jordan revealed in this book - I recommend this but would preface it that it does not quite live up to her other series--at least not yet!!

4.0 out of 5 stars intriguing Regency romance, April 29, 2004
This review is from: Master of Temptation (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1813, Major Maxwell Leighton takes Lieutenant John Yates home to the Mediterranean Isle of Cyrene to die. However, under the healing of Caro Evans, a Guardian of the Sword, John miraculously recovers. Before he returns to England, Mac and Caro make love.

A year later, Max still dreams of Caro and ponders if she would receive him if he journeyed to her island paradise. However, to his elation, Caro is in London to inform Lord Thorne that Lady Isabella Wilde has been captured and probably held in Algiers. As Thorne plans a rescue, Max tries to court Caro, but she rejects his advances though she is extremely attracted to him. The cause to stop tyranny in Europe remains her first love unless Max can persuade her that she can have her quest and him too.

This is an intriguing Regency romance that provides the audience with plenty of suspense through the activities of a pan-Europe group actively thriving to end tyranny. Caro is an interesting lead character as her healing prowess and her mission makes her unique for the period. Readers will appreciate the lead male who is willing to go to the max even joining her group if accepted to keep Caro at his side. Though acceptance of the existence of the Guardian of the Sword group is somewhat difficult, fans will receive a strong suspense tale filled with fine characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow -- wonderful!, May 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Master of Temptation (Mass Market Paperback)
Master of Temptation is a cut way above the typical historical romance. Wonderful love story, great characters with an emotionally scarred hero and strong but vulnerable heroine, unique setting, intriguing plot, edge-of-your-seat pacing, heart-tugging emotion, excellent writing, intense sensual lovescenes, and a superb ending. One of my favorites by Jordan.
