Could have been better...,
By
This review is from: Master the Air Traffic Controller Test (Arco Master the Air Traffic Controller) (Paperback)
This book has great content on the industry and general information about being an Air Traffic Controller, but help me on the test...it did not!! The publisher leads you to believe that there are sample questions from the AT-SAT...there are none. This book is great on general info, and how the AT-SAT test is set up. There's even a description of each test section, but the 700 sample test questions shown are from other tests given in ATC training once you get in (if you make it that far). Buy this book if you want to know what is coming after the AT-SAT but not for what's ON the AT-SAT.

Wish i read the reviews 1st. This book does not help you at all on the test.I took the at-sat test on Aug. 17th 2007. I highly recommend playing memory games, and high paced games to prepare. Most of the at-sat is like a game anyways. 1. Brainage and brainage2 (ds) 2. tetris attack. vs. mode on hard. (snes) 3. diner dash 2 (pc game) 4. Da Vinchi memory game (pc game) 5. review your 7th grade math. geometry angles and d=rxt problems. (which the book did an "so,so" job) you will ace the test if you can play any of these 2 games at once successfully. yest two games at once. Yes, the at-sat is that high paced. and remember try to have a photographic memory. best way to train for the photographic memory is, if you play the games for example tetris attack. tell a friend to pause it. you close your eyes immediately after the game is paused and tell the friend to ask you simple questions bout whats on the screen. simple stuff like what color was the last block you connected or what was the number chain your on or what was color of the highest block. Good luck all. oh yea as for the book, save the money for a nice healthy breakfast before the exam. hahaha update: i got a 96% on the test. updated games- 1. iphone/ipad app flight control (play on super hard and fast mode) 2. iphone/ipad app airport terminal

Doesnt Not Prepare Applicants for the ATSAT,
By
This review is from: Master the Air Traffic Controller Test (Arco Master the Air Traffic Controller) (Paperback)
I am a senior at Daniel Webster College in the Air Traffic Managment Program. I took the ATSAT in early February of 2008 and recieved a 95%. I had ordered this book about 2 weeks prior to the test and looked at it maybe once. This book gives those without ATC backrounds the lowdown on how the National Airspace System operates. If the ATSAT did have a section were it asked questions like that, then this study book would be great. However, in the 8 sections of the ATSAT, only one of them pertains directly to ATC, and is a simulation and knowing any of the knowledge in this book prior to taking the test will not help you. A better test that this book would prepare you for is the Air Traffic Basics test, which CTI applicants must take prior to Oak city and civilians take at the academy.

I'm a sucker for buying this book,

The others are right, they took the words right out of my mouth. The only thing different I have to say is that we should all SUE!

I didn't initially find the AT-Sat "part of this book" because I assumed you had to read the info in the book and then take the test in the back. I also thought the whole book was for the purpose of taking the at-sat. The book bombards you with info - so when I started to panic I decided to skip to the back and take a look. The practice test in the back isn't even for the AT-SAT - it is for some test they give you once you are in the academy! Bologna and Cheese man - The ATC Career Prep book is much better if you want info for the AT-SAT - maybe this book will be more useful once in the Academy?

Zero Stars,

Zero Stars should be the rating. That is actually how terribly misleading and unhelpful this book is.
In no way does it prepare you for the AT-SAT at all. I spent a week devoting my time, knowledge and studies to this book toward the preparation of my AT-SAT. What a waste of time! Finally, I stumbled on another prep book which was a savior to my chance with the AT-SAT. I threw this book away once I saw the other one. Don't waste your time. Don't waste your money. |
