Book Description

June 30, 2010
This is the story of Pride and Prejudice as seen through the eyes of Reggie, Mr. Darcy's dog. Reggie has a keen perception of things going on around him and the story begins with Darcy as a young boy of 15, picking Reggie out from a litter. We see the two of them become close companions as Darcy grows up and enters the story of Pride and Prejudice that Jane Austen penned. But the story also takes you to those silent months and behind the scenes where Reggie has much on which to reflect, comment, and intervene. Visit "KaraLou's" website, Jane Austen's Land of Ahhhs;, www.ahhhs.net, to read additional stories by her.

More About the Author

Kara Louise is the author of several books based on Jane Austen's novel, Pride and Prejudice including "Darcy's Voyage," which was released in Sept. 2010, and "Only Mr. Darcy Will Do" which was released in March, 2011, both published by Sourcebooks. She currently has 4 other self-published novels.

Kara Louise grew up in the San Fernando Valley, just north of Los Angeles. She is the middle of three sisters, all of whom lean to the creative arts - singing, art, and writing (each has her own expertise!). She is married and has one grown, married son. She and her family moved to Kansas from Los Angeles in 1991. When she arrived, she felt like she was on a nice, long, relaxing vacation. It was a far cry from the fast paced life-style in LA -- and she loved it. She and her husband currently live out in the country on 10 acres and are entertained by a dog, 6 cats, 3 horses, and 2 goats. She works in publications at her church where her husband is one of the pastors. She began writing in 2000, first, with an inspired story from her geneology that she was researching. But that took a back seat when she discovered the writings of Jane Austen, in particular, her novel "Pride and Prejudice." She began writing stories to answer the "what happened next" and the "what ifs" in Elizabeth's and Darcy's story. She has written 6 novels based on "Pride and Prejudice," but one of these days she is determined to finish that novel based on her geneology, which started it all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reggie's story is delightful, December 13, 2008

I first read "Master Under Good Regulation" as fan fiction. When it was published I knew I had to add it to my book collection. It is a delightful retelling of Pride and Prejudice. It is Reggie,Darcy's dog, who relates the events leading up to the ultimate happy ending. Kara Louise's stories are all enjoyable, I have yet to read anything of hers that has not delighted me. This is a must buy for the Austen addict.

4.0 out of 5 stars way better than I expected, May 4, 2009

I was a little leary of this book: A dog's point of view?! BUT, I thought it was very well done and, once again, showed a different side of Darcy and his past that we can only conjecture. I strongly recommend this to add to anyone's collection who is still in love with Mr Darcy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story!, December 2, 2009

I truly enjoyed this spin-off of Pride and Prejudice. It gives the reader a concrete, realistic idea of what shaped Mr. Darcy as he was growing up and made him the man he became as well as what motivated his behavior all seen through the eyes of his faithful companion, Reggie. Anyone who has had a special dog-friend can identify with this point of view. (Sometimes I think dogs understand humans better than we understand them.) There are moments in this story when you will just laugh out loud and others where you want to cry. Very poignant. It is also a "safe read" as there are no "peeping tom" incidents in it which is akin to the original story. It also follows the original story plot pretty faithfully; and, personally, I enjoy the "old" language. It makes the read more seamless with Jane Austen's book, although I did not find it heavily done here. Hope you like it as much as I did!
