Robert (Bob) Rubel is an educational sociologist by traininig (which is why you find some of his old books on here dealing with crime prevention in public schools). He has been heavily involved in the world of alternative sexuality since 2001, throwing himself into the literature of the field as though it were an academic study. He frequently attends weekend conferences in this field, where he is a presenter (generally on topics related to Master/slave relations, Leather protocols, fire play, and how to pleasure a woman).

There is a big cry for materials about 24/7 Ds or Ms relationships now in the leather and kink communities. Thus this is a good introductory book on the ideas of communication, why if fails and how it can succeed. However this is not an advanced concept but a very basic and necessary one: you must have good communication for any relationship to succeed. There in is part of my reason for -1 star: it is basic. Secondly the vast majority of the information in this book is about any relationship not just Ds or Ms. Rubel does a great job of explaining various theories about and methods for improving communication. We tried some of them at home and found them usable and fairly straightforward. Don't let the title throw you off. This is a good communication book for anyone in a relationship.
