Professional Results!,
This review is from: MasterCool Universal Hydraulic Flaring Tool Set (Misc.)
I used this tool to make several flares. It works great. It's a bit awkward at first holding the die and tubing - but in minutes it was like I used it for years. I like this tool because you can bring the flaring tool to the car. Some of the other higher priced and higher quality flaring tools are set-up in a vice. If you have a brake line snaked through a car you-re pretty much out of luck bringing the brake line to the tool. With this one - you take the tool to the car.
I highly recommend it. One short-coming is that it doesn't make 30 degree flare for An and JIC fitting. Oh well.

A great tool that makes perfect flare's. If you work with tools every day, this tool is extremely easy to operate. It is a little awkward it tight places under the vehicle, but what flaring tool isn't. It takes me just over 1 minute to clamp the tubing and complete a double flare.
The biggest advantage to this kit, is the ability to make fuel line fittings, it is a great compliment to any fuel line repair kit. I can now completely repair automotive fuel systems in house, without outsourcing any repair lines. The one thing I was worried about, was ordering this tool and not knowing the quality, well let me tell you, the mastercool flaring tool is of excellent quality, just as you would expect, it will fit in with the rest of the tools in your box. This tool is a great addition to my business, and will make it more profitable. It will take a very short time to pay for itself.

If you have ever struggled to get perfect flares in lines larger than 3/16", this is the tool for you. Recently I had to redo the fuel lines on my car with the GM "fuel line flare" and "push connect". These lines are discontinued so I had no choice other than to make them myself. I asked my coworker who used to work at a Ford dealership, if this was really worth $600+ (MSRP) or not. And he said without a pause "YES, It's AWESOME!"
It makes PERFECT flares every time, EFFORTLESSLY. Going through all the trouble to bend lines as closely as possible to factory only to get a bad flare at the end gets old fast. That will NEVER be a problem again with this. The only downside to it is that it is fairly large (about the size of a three "D" cell Maglight). So if you are doing "close quarters work" on a car, you may not have the room to get it into action. As such, I still have all my "old fashioned" double flaring tools... I plan to get the dies so that I can do 37 degree flares too. Well worth the money!

Very OVER rated OVER priced flaring kit with serious design issues,

I own or have used almost every SAE 45 degree double lap inverted flaring tool (and ISO/DIN Bubble flare) on the planet so I can't take all the happy glorious testimonials any longer. I own the Kent- Moore version of this kit supplied to GM dealerships. For double flaring lines OFF the vehicle in a well lit area it is acceptable but on-the-vehicle flaring exposes serious design problems. The tube dies are NOT doweled, tapered or otherwise nested and captured & aligned adequately (foolproof) with this tool. The upset adapters & cone attachment to the ram end have a ridiculous amount of slop causing further alignment problems requiring another hand to keep aligned as the adapter/cone @ ram is guided into the tube end. No easy feat with gravity and brake fluid keeping everything slick. Too easy to break weak adapter pilot pin or actually miss tube with cone. The tube dies are long presumably for better grip but that often renders this tool USELESS when the repair area is SHORT leading into a bend. I have other flaring sets with shorter grip length that have equal or superior grip...never slip. The hydraulic ram unit otherwise is very good & powerful. However, when I have a critical one-bite-at-the-apple situation I call on my Snap-On/Bluepoint TF-1000 (I believe similar is sold as Lock Technology 3000B multi flaring gun) a bit heavy but a rock solid design using heat treated tool steel and importantly can get at short lengths & has SELF-ALIGNING thrust bearing- screw type tube guided ram...you can sort of "feel" the flare as it's forming. Mastercool needs to apply better tool design principles here before they hit your wallet this hard. This kit is NOT the cat's ass just yet...I'd wait for an upgrade. JP

The provided dies are junk for stainless steel,
By Bugeye58 (Highland, Michigan, USA) - See all my reviews

I use one of these tools on a nearly daily basis at work, and I've found that the 3/16" dies are junk. This is the only size I use, and when double flaring 3/16" diameter, .020" wall, 304L stainless brake tubing, I only get four flares out of a set of dies before they are unusable. They are made of sintered metal, and don't hold up. The tool itself is fantastic, and with decent dies works wonderfully. I just wish Mastercool would fix their problems with the dies.

Perfect crimps every time,

Makes crimping lines so much easier and effortless than old school way. Makes nice, precise double and bubble flares. Works wonders on brake lines. Still fits into places to crimp right on the vehicle. I should have bought this product years ago. Takes the headache out of producing great end product and saves so much time. I saved almost $200 off the price that a specialty tool truck was selling it for. I would highly recommend this set.

Worth its weight,
This review is from: MasterCool Universal Hydraulic Flaring Tool Set (Misc.)
I had the privilege to use this product before purchasing it in 2008. At first it can seem a bit awkward, but after a few flares you readily get the hang of it. Tool truck prices are generally higher than here, but either way, the product is worth any amount. The time gained in using this tool makes the job of making a living all that much easier. I highly recommend this product!!
