5.0 out of 5 stars "Man Behind the Curtain?"
The reviewer who warns you to beware of the "man behind the curtain" has obviously not read this book. Even if he has read it, he certainly does not understand it. No where in the pages of this book is a single solitary mention of "Garji". The reviewer has not based his remarks on the book, but rather information he heard at a seminar, which he also...

1.0 out of 5 stars New Age Nonsense
I was curious about this MasterPath thing, after hearing about it from a good friend who'd been dating a gal who was 'on the Path'. What he heard from her about it and relayed to me was pretty wild, so I started looking around, spun through this book, checked out their website, etc. etc. and just came to the conclusion that it's all quite silly. And this Olsen fellow...

5.0 out of 5 stars "Man Behind the Curtain?", September 12, 2003
This review is from: MasterPath: The Divine Science of Light and Sound (Vol. 1) (Hardcover)

No where in the pages of this book is a single solitary mention of "Garji". The reviewer has not based his remarks on the book, but rather information he heard at a seminar, which he also did not understand. It's okay not to understand something, but one should not criticize what they cannot comprehend. This is one of the most beautiful spiritual books ever written. If you are truly searching ... try this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars New Age Nonsense, September 2, 2010
I was curious about this MasterPath thing, after hearing about it from a good friend who'd been dating a gal who was 'on the Path'. What he heard from her about it and relayed to me was pretty wild, so I started looking around, spun through this book, checked out their website, etc. etc. and just came to the conclusion that it's all quite silly. And this Olsen fellow? Here's a guy from North Dakota who puts himself right up there next to Jesus and the Dalai Lama...seriously! He's a legend in his own mind, a self-appointed Sat Guru/Master. He looks like he spends more time golfing and tanning as opposed to 'contemplation'. I found a phenomenal thread on [...] that is quite compelling, with skeptics & ex-followers alike calling out the fallacies of this method and the man behind it, and it's parallels to Scientology and Eckankar (and he's been caught plagiarizing). Apparently he caused quite a stir with a rousing Bird Flu talk a few years ago which had many of his devoted followers selling houses and moving, stocking up on guns and ammo, food, etc. Eerie resemblance to some of the other cults of recent memory where things didn't end so well. My conclusion is that MP is nothing more than a moneymaking tax haven for Olsen and while it may present some decent concepts around self-contemplation and meditation, all the other built-in fluff and nonsense makes it a dead-end that only a simpleton would buy into. I'm 99.9% certain that the positive reviews here are from MP 'plants' who are blinded by the light and deafened by the sound. Any free-thinking person would read this 'book' and toss it in the garbage...or sell it used on Amazon :-P

A 'must' for any person interested in universal metaphysics. Profound yet readable, especially relevant to those weary seekers lost in the labyrinth of the lower phenomenal worlds. Stunning and bold in its revelations. RWB.

Ditto to what Mr. Holtje said. I picked this book up on a whim and on every page was struck by the power, clarity and truth of what was written. This chance encounter with truth helped lead me to the best thing that has ever happened in my life; you'll see what I mean. Just go with that deep instinct you feel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MasterPiece, October 31, 2004
This review is from: MasterPath: The Divine Science of Light and Sound (Vol. 1) (Hardcover)
MasterPath, Volume 1, is my ~favorite~ introductory book on the Divine Science of Light and Sound, also known by names such as Surat Shabda Yoga and the Path of the Saints. Sri Gary Olsen is the founder and current Living Master of MasterPath (www.masterpath.org). In this volume, he eloquently shares with us the true purpose of life - why we are here, and how this Path of Light and Sound will guide and protect us on the way back Home. I wholehearted recommend this book to those who seek to know the truth and to become the ultimate master of their own universe.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Mormon's View, April 8, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: MasterPath: The Divine Science of Light and Sound (Vol. 1) (Hardcover)
As a devout Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints)for 53 years, even a Bishop for 6 of those years, I felt deeply that there was more to life. I was not happy with the "one size fits all" doctrine found in Mormonism or that I was put in a position to constantly judge others based on their behavior. This book more than any other I ever read gave me the deep understanding of the meaning of life, of Christ, and of the great Masters of old. Most religions believe they hold the only path back to God. I decided many years ago that that belief is something to be overcome, not embraced. The MasterPath Divine Science of Light and Sound Vol. 1 offered the first insight as to how all those religions fit in the grand scheme of things, and how to "escape" into a life of true freedom - finally. What an amazing, stunning, liberating book!

1.0 out of 5 stars Egotistical and misleading book, January 21, 2011
This review is from: MasterPath: The Divine Science of Light and Sound (Vol. 1) (Hardcover)
I found this book to be so far off base in more than one way. First of all, it contains THE most bizarre misinterpretations of the things Jesus taught that it has ever been my misfortune to encounter. Secondly, it implies that our all-loving, merciful God is some kind of deranged monster that denies enlightenment to most. As with all dogma and propaganda, this book instills fear and guilt, which are barriers to spiritual and personal growth. In my opinion, this is not merely harmless fluff; it is a direct attempt to undermine self-esteem in the gullible who are willing to believe this egotistical maniac.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of the Man Behind the Curtain!, December 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: MasterPath: The Divine Science of Light and Sound (Vol. 1) (Hardcover)
This guy is yet another charismatic hooligan... who [took] the teachings of Paul Twitchell of Eckankar fame, and created his own self-worshipping cult...
There are many wonderful and informative books on cults and false gurus, and the types of psychological manipulation these characters employ (see 'Feet of Clay', or check out 'Snapping' or anything by Margaret Singer or Steven Hassan) which would benefit anyone more than this fanciful rewriting of high-sounding spiritual precepts used to lure in the gullible.
Or, you could go to New Mexico (where the people still haven't caught wind of his soiled reputation in Fargo, North Dakota) and become a starry-eyed worshipper.
There are also innumerable books with genuine spiritual value that don't involve self-aggrandizing egomaniacs.
This book will lead you on yet another fanciful road to nowhere, or to the feet of 'Garji' as he is known to those who focus on him as the one and only 'true relationship' and his path as the 'only true path'. Sheesh! Give me a break!
