5.0 out of 5 stars Master Built Grill
Excellent product. Bought it for a friend who lives in a condo that doesn't allow gas grills. They use it constantly, looks and tastes just like it was grilled on a gas grill. Highly recommended!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worthless Grill
Several years ago we ordered a Masterbuilt Electric Veranda Grill. It looked great and would heat to about 450-500F but then promptly cool down. You could get a semi-decent sear on meat if you opened the lid, quickly threw the meat on and slammed the lid shut. Several years ago we ordered a Masterbuilt Electric Veranda Grill. It looked great and would heat to about 450-500F but then promptly cool down. You could get a semi-decent sear on meat if you opened the lid, quickly threw the meat on and slammed the lid shut. Over time it started to lose heating capacity so we ordered a replacement heating element and plug. This did not help so we ordered a new unit. It arrived today and after I spent 30 minutes assembling it noticed it was more cheaply constructed than the previous grill and will not heat above 325F. I have discovered there is a hidden but major design flaw in these units. When the top is closed there is a gap in the back from which the heat escapes. On the upside, Amazon promptly sent a return authorization for UPS and I have been credited for the unit without any hassle.

Update of May 2011:

A few months ago I purchased the Meco 9300 Electric Tabletop Grill and have found it to be excellent in every respect. Heats quickly, sears and cooks beautifully, is well-built but affordable. I have also written a review on the Meco and would recommend it instead of the Masterbuilt Electric Grill.

I've had this sitting on my patio for almost 2 years and have only used it a handful of times. It doesn't get hot enough or evenly hot. It doesn't do a good job cooking and takes forever. It also shorts my fuse box if I have it on with any lights on, etc. That are on the same circuit. I need to take it to the dumpster.

I bought this same exact grill/same model # at

Walmart for only $98.00!!!

It works perfect for my daughter and her room mate

they have a townhouse and the compact size is

just right for their "mini" patio area.

I bought the Masterbuilt Electric Pedestal Grill thinking that it would be the perfect solution to our small outdoor space. Think again. We couldn't even get the parts to fit correctly. We finally went to Home Depot and replaced all of the hardware needed to connect the various parts. This product is junk. Do buy anything from Masterbuilt ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great grill!, December 2, 2011
This review is from: Masterbuilt 20150209 Electric Veranda Outdoor Pedestal Grill, Black (Lawn & Patio)
I received this grill early this summer and was very skeptical it would work for my wife and I. We LOVE to cook out and do so all year round. I put the grill on our patio, next to our large stainless steel gas grill and gave it a try. It heats up nearly immediately and keeps a consistent temp. Our burgers were charred and really juicy! Fluke, right? Wrong! It performed so well, that about a month after we got the Masterbuilt I gave our gas grill to a buddy of mine who needed a new one! The Masterbuilt is the only grill we have now, and we cook anything from steaks to sea food on it. Clean up is a breeze (we followed the instructions that suggested wrapping the heat deflector with tin foil) and grease rarely makes it all the way to the cup. Another nice thing about it is that it cools very quickly as well. I have no idea what the people are doing wrong that have slammed this grill. My wife and I are thrilled with it and will not go back to gas again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, December 18, 2011
This review is from: Masterbuilt 20150209 Electric Veranda Outdoor Pedestal Grill, Black (Lawn & Patio)
We actually found ours brand new at a Thrift Store! It was marked $80, but they were having a half-price sale. We live in a condo building which prohibits gas or charcoal, so we figured $40? What the heck. We cooked a couple of New York strips on it tonight and I must say, I'm impressed. Obviously (and hopefully), there's no flame, but think of it as an upside-down broiler. It did a great job on our steaks and I look forward to using it more. We have some big Weber gas grills available at the clubhouse a block down the street. They do a great job, but the little difference isn't worth the trouble to run down there. We're very pleased with our electric grill!

I do wonder if some of the folks who were unhappy were using an extension cord or otherwise had a circuit that wasn't up to par. After all, on High, this puppy pulls close to 15 amps!

I thought I had studied all the different electric grills when I made this selection. I liked the construction and looks and value of this grill, but it simply does not have the necessary heat to do satisfactory BBQing. Really disappointed.
