Then I opened the manual and read,"For off-road use only".

The UPS person didn't even bother caring it up the stairs one flight but dropped it off in our hallway.

It works ok if you drive slowly but going on the highways is not a good idea.

I have a 250 Kawasaki Dual Sport that I load on to this carrier. The bike is about 75-100 lbs less than the carrying limit. The bike is relatively easy to load and take off, I can do it by my self, but that may not be true for everyone as I am a relatively tall person with circus like arms. The frame of the carrier shows some twisting as the bike is loaded onto the carrier. I am not sure if this is true with all carriers, but as there is only one central mounting point (the hitch) the shear physics of the weight on one side lead me to believe this would be the same on all carriers. The twisting goes away as soon as the bike is loaded on. It did not come with any tie down straps, but this was remedied with about 30 dollars in straps from the local true value. All in all I am very happy with the way this carrier performs and I recommend it.

I used this on a 2,000 mile trip with a KLR650 on the back of a 2005 Tacoma. Getting the bike loaded deformed the metal a little bit so after the first use I put a block under the end to support it while loading and unloading. For the price it did a fair job considering other carriers can get up to $500 and more. I'm sure with a lighter bike it would do much better. For larger bikes you might find it blocks the taillights so consider getting some magnetic or strap on taillights with it (typically used when towing another vehicle).

This carrier is very adjustable and sturdy. It is constructed of steel, with multiple locations for pins and bolts to accommodate a variety of different sized motorcycles.

It works very well as designed, but could be better engineered if it was made so tightening the bolts didn't begin to crush the steel tubing.

Amazon's description states "Receiver mount motorcycle carrier safely transports bikes up to 500 pounds." On the box the carrier is in it is clearly marked rated for up to a 450cc dirt bike with a max weight of 300lbs. Do not be fooled. Amazon is getting this back before I ever take it out of the box.

The instructions are a little bit of a pain to read and follow. It really is a two person job to assemble. Works great but a pain to put together.

I bought this as a cheap solution to haul my DRZ 400 or my KLX 250. Both bikes are around 300Lbs so by the product description of a 500Lb limit I was within the specification with either bike. When the hauler arrived the box said it only had a 300Lb limit.... So, I put it together and put my heavier bike on, the DRZ. It did seem to hold the bike pretty good, but I am a little concerned that it is pushing the limits of the flimsy steel frame. If I was buying this again it would only be for a bike that’s 250Lbs or LESS.

This is an item that only has a 300 pound capacity; not 500; not 400; etc. It says on the box that it fits dirt bikes up to 300 pounds. In my view there is complete misrepresentation and they lie to you to sell it how did they do in making it or having it fabricated?
I received a package from Amazon promptly although it was totally banged up and taped on the corners etc. The UPS person didn't even bother caring it up the stairs one flight but dropped it off in our hallway.
I of course immediately called Amazon to pick it up and would not shop with the seller again.
