I AM A HUGE FAN OF MR DIRKSCHNEIDER'S. ACCEPT ALL THE WAY TILL TODAY. I CAN EASILY PUT HIM IN LEMMYS OR ROB HALFORDS CLASS. ADD TO THAT THE FACT THAT THE MANS 1ST LANGUAGE IS NOT ENGLISH AND YOU CAN THEN APPRERCIATE HIM A LITTLE MORE. THIS DVD IS VERY GOOD. WELL SHOT, NOT A LOT OF JUMPING FROM ANGLE TO ANGLE. IF YOU ARE A FAN,YOU'RE GOING TO BUY IT ANYWAY IF YOU'RE LIKE ME. IF YOU ARE ON THE FENCE...ALLOW ME TO DRAG YOU DOWN ON THE SIDE OF SOMEONE WHO BUYS THIS DVD. WORTH EVERY CENT. ENJOY MR DIRKSCHNEIDER AND THE BAND WHILE YOU CAN...AND WHILE HE CAN STILL PERFORM AT THIS LEVEL. MAY HE LIVE TO BE 200.

Best live album from UDO. However, DVD can only be read on a computer unless you have a PAL DVD player.
Maybe half the tracks in this album are from the ACCEPT repertoire. So if you like ACCEPT better than UDO then you have classic tracks like "Balls to the Wall", "Midnight Mover", etc.

I am very happy with this purchase. First, some background to provide perspective--back in my youth I loved the Balls to the Wall album (I saw Accept in concert twice in '84-85). But then Metal Heart was just ok and Russian Roulette plain sucked so I lost interest altogether. A few weeks ago I happened to listen to Balls to the Wall again and I had forgotten how good that album was, so I decided to check into whatever happened to Accept. This led me to the Accept vs. U.D.O. story--I read Wolf Hoffman saying that Udo never wrote any of the songs in Accept and that is why they split up, and Accept's new singer actually contributes to songwriting so it is way better than with Udo, etc. On the other side, Udo wants nothing to do with Accept other than a few temporary reunion gigs, etc. and is content fronting his own band. So in the past weeks I have downloaded several songs from the new Accept album, some mid-90's Accept where Udo returned for 3 albums, as well as some U.D.O. songs. My verdict? I think the U.D.O. stuff is superior, which led me to take a "gamble" on this cd/DVD package for $15. I must say I am highly impressed with this material, alot more than I thought I would be.
First and foremost, the sound quality of the concert is absolutely top-notch, and the musicianship is also first-rate. Stephen Kauffman (the drummer on Balls to the Wall album) is now on guitar and highly competent. The other guitarist, Igor Gianola, is a bonified guitar hero and really shines on the DVD. Drums and bass are crystal clear and powerful, I just love the sound of this album. There are alot of classic heavy-metal cliches (answer-back gang-shout choruses etc.) and Iron Maiden-esque dual guitar leads, but nearly every song is catchy and it just works. Don't get me wrong, the new Accept material is also admirable but IMO this is even better. As for the DVD (I read some reviewers saying it won't play on DVD player so I just played it on my computer) it is simply the same concert as the cd's and is also first-rate. I had expected something alot more low budget from Udo's solo band but everything about this package is extremely high quality. So if you liked the classic Balls to the Wall era Accept, I would say this is the closest thing. This cd/DVD package is well worth $15.
