5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!
MASTER[piece]FUL MYSTERY TOUR is brilliant and in my mind a perfect album.
Oh the pure headbanging joy and humor it inflicts on the listener!
There are a few na-sayers stating that there are 'old' songs on the album and oh how lame that is- while I understand where they are 'sort of' coming from--- have they actually listened to this amazing album?

Sounds funny, but ends up being Dr. Demento-quality. The mashups just don't work that well. I'll stick with the Grey Album by Dangermouse.

No, seems they haven't because the new incarnations of the 'older and re-recorded' songs are a million times better, not to distract or downplay from the original versions.
They're tweeks here and there in these versions of the 're-recorded' songs- faster tempo's, new lyrics, new riff's, amazing sound quality AND we haven't even talked yet about the NEW songs- look out, pure geniuses at work!
Take Running for Your Life, which was available for a long, long time on their myspace page as a live track- the one from MMT is completely different! When they started playing the MMT version live, some fans were like "i love this new song" and they would have to be reminded that actually this song has been in their live set for years, it is just in a different form and for my taste much, much improved and better.

Let me put it to ya this way- if you don't own a Beatallica CD and are curious and about getting one...
-- go buy this album and you will not be disappointed, in fact you will (99% fer sure) share your new found joy with others and spread the word of Beatallica. Perfect for in the car, at home, at a party, at work, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, August 17, 2009
This review is from: Masterful Mystery Tour (Audio CD)
Well, I know this band for quite a while now and listened to their songs for years but what I got here in my hands (or actually in my stereo) is so unbelievable!! There are well-known songs that were re-recorded. They sound absolutely awesome! Then there are new songs and first time I listened to it, I tought, THAT is beatallica at its best, combining the best of Metallica and The Beatles and creating some great party tunes. Listening to it the second or third time then I noticed all the small things that make it a real great album. These guys know what they are doing for sure!

Anyone that likes Metallica and/or The Beatles must have this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, August 4, 2009
This review is from: Masterful Mystery Tour (Audio CD)
Overall, this is one of Beatallica's best efforts. The re-records of songs they had already done, for example "The Thing That Should Not Let it Be", sound much better this time around.

As for the new songs, they once again flawlessly capture both the essence of The Beatles and Metallica. I am always impressed by how creatively they mash-up Beatles and Metallica styles, and manage to have the end result sound so great, and this CD is no disappointment.

If you're a Beatallica fan, you'll definitely love this. Very good mix of music, with a nice satirical twist. And if you're not a Beatallica fan... well... what's wrong with you? :)

4.0 out of 5 stars The Past-Masterful Masters Of Beatle-Mashups Bash Out Another One, September 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Masterful Mystery Tour (Audio CD)
Granted, Beatles covers in the style of Metallica are very much an acquired taste, and yet--in an astonishing coincidence, considering the fact that this band is called Beatallica--that's exactly the manner of musical combo platter that these guys specialize in. And, as a fan of both The Beatles and Metallica, I'm glad that they do.

I acquired a fondness for Beatallica's music in the early weeks of 2005 when I stumbled upon the original MP3s on their website, along with lyrics, a bunch of fake liner notes, and uproariously disgusting "fan art." Now, after a series of intrigues (!), those beatallica dot org recordings from earlier in the decade are no longer available. In their place (although not a one-for-one, across-the-board, track-for-track substitution by any means) are the more recent commercial releases: Sgt. Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band; All You Need Is Blood; and, most recently, this CD, Masterful Mystery Tour. Though I do frequently miss the insouciance and the off-the-cuff nature of the early MP3s (the commercial version of "Got To Get You Trapped Under Ice" has no mess-up, for instance), this CD and its two recent predecessors are so polished that they could--no kidding--convince a casual listener that you're actually playing a Metallica record for them. It's a trade-off, old versus new, but I'm convinced that the guys in Beatallica are now very much the Beatallica they intended to be all along. So, in that sense, it represents progress.

Very good stuff... recommended if you either enjoy heavy metal, enjoy "matter/ antimatter" mashups, or both. Familiarity with the music of The Beatles is strongly recommended, and probably not difficult to come by since their music isn't exactly obscure--but is nonetheless sadly shunned by many metalheads (although not by Jaymz Lennfield & co., obviously).

Hey, Beatallica--when are you going to put out "While My Guitar Deathly Creeps" and "For Whom Michelle Tolls"?

5.0 out of 5 stars Thing That Should Not Let It Be (sitting on the shelf), August 31, 2009

Being a friend of Jaymz Lenfield, I am also one of his most critical enemies. The first "production" CD release, Sgt. Hetfield's Motor Breath Pub Band was very good but did leave room for improvment. Beatallica has taken that space and filled it with this awesome new release, Masterful Mystery Tour. Yes, I have heard the "posers" whining about how they have done some of these songs before, but they were not on a label backed album like this. They were re-done, tighten up and "heshed out". All you metal fans can not go wrong by adding this to your collection and when you play it for your unsuspecting friends, they will want on the Beatallica Bandwagon as well.

Also catch video for Hero Of The Day Tripper on YouTube ([...]). Open the comic book to our four heroes as they have to save the day (and the party) from 4 "sleazers" that have come to ruin everyone's fun.

2.0 out of 5 stars Some things don't mix..., August 29, 2010
I love the Beatles. I love Metallica. This record tries to force together two discreet, classic, yet incompatible sounds. The result is like sauerkraut ice cream: hard to swallow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beatles + Metallica = Win, September 14, 2009
By
This review is from: Masterful Mystery Tour (Audio CD)
This is one of the coolest mix cover style bands I've heard in a long time. They combine Beatles theme songs, with the sound of Metallica, meshing the two together in a unique sound that is amazing. I love all kinds of music, and its hard to not like the Beatles, as they are one of the founding fathers of modern Rock. And Metallica, well, they are the founding fathers of Speed Metal, so you mash them together and you get this very cool sound. I would pay money to see them on tour. I only wish a few of the songs would sound a bit more like the Beatles with the flare of Metallica, rather then most of them sounding like Metallica, but the lead singer sounds so much like James from the real Metallica, I can see why they do what they do. Amazing.
