I received this book as a "freebie" at work. I am a bit of an information junkie so I read quite a bit of stuff. Actually most of the stuff that floats across my desk only gets the first couple sentences read and if my attention is still there I continue. I dont have a lot of time between deals. 5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Delivery - A Roadmap to Online Car Sales Success, January 31, 2006
This review is from: Mastering the Art of Selling Cars Online (Paperback)
Seperating itself from the common herd of the predictable, the uncreative, and the average, Eddie Coleman's Mastering The Art of Selling Cars Online is a complete manual on how to establish and run an EXTRAORDINARY Internet Department or Business Development Center in the automotive industry. Having established three startup online operations myself, and having researched and integrated hundreds of portions of dozens of the best processes, I am grateful to have had these ideas at my disposal during my third enterprise, which is the most successful one for me to date. This guide has been a lifesaver in helping me with very important processes and actions, providing me with an effective foundation of information for business admin, marketing approaches, goals planning, and decision-making. Eddie Coleman himself is a friendly, personable, down-to-earth true 'Master' of the Art, and has selflessly provided his time and advice to help take this operation from a mere idea to an unstoppable force in the region in less than three months. This Business Development Center, utilizing Eddie Coleman's system, has exploded onto the North Florida scene and has competitors in four states trying to mimic us - I even have customers driving in from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. I guarantee you nobody else is getting those results from their internet department! Great book, great system, great author!

I received this book as a "freebie" at work. I am a bit of an information junkie so I read quite a bit of stuff. Actually most of the stuff that floats across my desk only gets the first couple sentences read and if my attention is still there I continue. I dont have a lot of time between deals. This book had some good information that was strong enough to keep my attention. I give it 3 stars for that. I actually was able to finish it, the occasional "gem" kept me searching. But overall it was weak and not very rewarding to finish. The useful information could have easily been downsized and put in a fifty page manual. But, if its free, read it. I'm actualy here to buy and leave kudos for another book I read "Cars and People, How to put the two together" is must read for any automotive pro.

I've been selling cars online for 4 years now. This book was very basic. If you are new to selling cars online buy this book. If you have done it for a while not worth the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Self-Promotion, July 7, 2005
This review is from: Mastering the Art of Selling Cars Online (Paperback)
Eddie Coleman completely uses this book to promote his Ad agency. He talks more about advertising than Mastery. One good statistic he uses is his conversion rate. Other than that, if you are not a DP, don't bother.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Job, October 4, 2005
This review is from: Mastering the Art of Selling Cars Online (Paperback)
Coleman did a good job. My name is Patrick Davis I have written two books on the subject of selling cars. And I read everyone as they hit the market. This book addressed planning, as well as sales communication, and fairly up to date technology for the time it was written in.

1.0 out of 5 stars A $30 advertisement, folks, that's it, January 2, 2006
This review is from: Mastering the Art of Selling Cars Online (Paperback)
I'm an experienced Internet sales director and I have to agree with the other reviewer that this book is nothing more than a thinly-veiled ad for Mr. Coleman's services. There were only a few useful nuggets of information dispersed throughout a 300-page diatribe of how effective his far-eastern, pschographic (?) principles of persuasion are. He even spends considerable time getting you ready for the explosion of business you will recieve once applying these principles to your department. Right. Very little, if any, actual instruction accompanies his psychobabble in this awkwardly organized book--I guess that's what we need to pay him for. Honestly, it's somewhat insulting. Save your money. BTW - one of these reviews HAD to be written by (or inspired by) the author himself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly metaphors., December 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mastering the Art of Selling Cars Online (Paperback)
The books wasn't bad. There were many good factoids that are valuable. They could be summarized into a few pages. There were a lot of metaphors that took up the bulk of the text and I disliked that. Aside from personal taste, the author isn't bad. It is worth the $20 or so it took to buy it if you are unable to find some of the industry statistics you are looking for on google, or don't have experience with the topics the metaphors cover.

1.0 out of 5 stars Infomercial form of a book, December 3, 2010

If you think Ron @ Ronco adds to the quality of TV viewing, then you'll think Coleman is a literary genius. Otherwise, stay clear and find some actual sales experts. Eddie Coleman is all hype - his company name is Hyperdrive, maybe that's why. Once the hype wears off, there is no substance. I know, I've met him a few times within auto industry circles. If you don't already know (either instinctively or from even very limited experience) the basic information put forth in this poorly written book, then you should possibly consider not even being in sales.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Think This Guy Has Ever Sold Cars, October 30, 2009
By
This review is from: Mastering the Art of Selling Cars Online (Paperback)
I've worked Internet car sales for a few years and I've always made a living, even during the Recession. A good book is short and to the point. This isn't it. Not enough of the meat I need to close deals and work with the guy who wants to buy a car below invoice. The author comes across like he isn't a seasoned guy and I couldn't relate to his presentation.
