After reading this book, I feel more empowered and less controlled by the condition. It has given me and my husband a whole new understanding. As a person who has Bipolar 2, I never even knew four versions of Bipolar existed until reading this book. I am now in the process of buying this book to give to my family. Don't hesitate, buy it.

This book is a great way to develop or expand understanding of Bipolar and find ways to cope with this as a loved one of someone with Bipolar disorder. I am much more confident in my own knowledge, feelings and strategies since reading the book and can be a much better support. I have definitely dispelled some fears and myths for myself, and I also understood the depth of how Bipolar can disrupt the person's life at different times, and what might help or hinder this. I can be a more effective, loving supporter and can also better challenge myths and stigma associated with Bipolar.

This looks like a fascinating book -- but it is loaded with quotations from people who are living with bipolar disorder, and the publisher hasn't bothered to put these in italics or indent the quotes. Reading it is therefore frustrating, as the voice changes abruptly between paragraphs. This is lazy in the extreme, disrespectful to the reader and does no justice to the subject matter. I will go looking for a second hand copy of the paper edition.
