3.0 out of 5 stars Basic
Very basic guidance in the book. Easy to read through, at times it seems common sense, basic, or that no new information is being enlightened. I would recommend this book to anyone trying enhance interviewing skills, but I would look for more book out there on the same subject. Most of this information or the ideas of "Mastering and Assessment Center" or Interview can be...

Unlike some of todays Fire Service, Chief Kastros understands leadership. This text clearly outlines a plan to test successfully and more importantly to be a successful leader after promotion. I speak from personal experience. Andoni has been instrumental in my career. If you are testing..you need this book.

I have purchased three different Assessment Center books. This book beats them all. The information helped me come out on top and nail the promotion. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone that has an Assessment Center in their promotional process. Good luck and I hope you get your promotion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Preparing For Full Time Fire Fighter Position, July 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It Is very important to be prepared for the extensive hiring process that canadites experinece to reach a Full Time Fire Fighter Position. With competetion at its peak knowing how to present yourself as an honorable well educated fireman is the key to success.

The ability to listen to a CD during the day while taking care of obligations speeds up the prep time and takes away the sense of urgency trying to read a huge FF Book.

Great Product to land the Interview no questions asked.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good to have as a resource., January 11, 2011

I purchased this book 3 1/2 years ago when I was testing for Captain. I'm sure the author and anyone else you talk to you when it comes to testing will tell you not to put all your eggs in one basket. So read this book and make sure you ask around in your department as to how the testing process went and how it compares to the suggestions in this book. This book had a lot of great suggestions that helped me but other parts didn't, and that's just part of testing everyone has a their own quirks as to how they tweak the test.

I would say this book as whole is worth the money; I was number 1 on the list and smoked the rest of the candidates. Prepare well, study all the testing material diligently, take promotional classes, and keep your mouth shut around the rest of the candidates, even if their your buddies. Promotions are far and few between so on game day its your team (you and your family) against theirs. After the game go buy everyone a beer!

This review is from: Mastering the Fire Service Assessment Center (Hardcover)
This book is a wealth of information on the fire department assessment center. It gives a ton of information and practice scenarios. This is my second assessment center and this book has shown me things that I didn't even think about during the first assessment center.
