I found this book in my home years ago, among the dusty tomes we had collected. As a child, I found this book helpful for the simple things such as what are the best herbs to use when I'm cooking chicken, as well as what tea I should drink when I have an upset stomach. Now that i am an adult, I recognize that it is much more useful than I ever recognized. This book is like an encyclopedia of herbs, book of remedies, a recipe book, a gardener's manual and a witchcraft book all rolled into one.

A "must have" for anyone interested in herbs.

I totally enjoyed reading this book...and I learned much more than I thought I would. I am grateful to the person who gave it to me as a gift. Paul Huson delivers a book filled with interesting information. I recommend you read it.

"Mastering Herbalism" is a very informative book on herbs. Paul Huson talks about making incense, cooking, Witchcraft and Wortcunning and the hidden properties of them. "Mastering Herbalism" also includes a descriptive chapter on herbs themselves

Mastering Herbalism: A Practical Guide by herbal expert Paul Huson is a marvelous compendium of useful information concerning herbs of all kinds. Mastering Herbalism is also packed with gardening tips for growing one's own herbs. I first read this book about 4 years ago. I had the oppertunity to read a first edition hardcover volume filled with its owners personal notes. This is truly one of the great herbals in print and I highly reccomend it to anyone seeking the information on the metaphysical properties of herbs.

This book is a cornerstone of my library. This book covers the uses of herbs since ancient egyptian times into the modern. Ancient recipies for healing, health, perfumery, and of course incenses are included. There is also a large section regarding the use of herbs in cooking.

There is practical, concise info regarding herb propogation and how to maintain a garden.

Over time the price of this book waxes and wanes, depending on availability, so if you can find it at a reasonable price, go ahead and pick up a copy. . .you won't be dissapointed.

This is an excellent book on herbalism.Yet,there are two small problems with the book.It's a bit dated and not much about witchcraft herbals.It's more of a Renaissanse book of herbs.I enjoyed reading the many recipes and favorite spices.Written in 1974,and still a classic.The last couple of chapters deal with 'Herb Magick' and 'Wortcunning'.A lot of popular history to enjoy.Some interesting ideas on developing your own herbal maze.No incantations or ritual ideas with herbs presented however.It's still worth a look at.Some lesser known herb facts explored,therefore may foster one's herbal interest.(-The author,Paul Huson,mentions a recipe he learned from Oscar-winning supporting actress,Nina Foch.Later she co-starred with Bela Lugosi,under the direction of Ed Wood.The recipe was 'Pesto Genovese',and as delicious as her beauty.She passed away December 9th,2008.)

I have enjoyed Paul Huson books for years. I always find him informative, descriptive and giving useful, practical info.

This book is a MUST for anyone interested in herbs, their history, usage and general knowledge.

This book was above and beyond what I'd expected! It was a real deal for $15. From the perfectly organized sections/chapters to the information given it really is excellent. A book I'll be able to go back to forever!
