This book by Oyama Sensei is an excellent text book. It covers in detail: basics, training, conditioning, kata's and self-defense techniques. This book is a must regardless of styles study. This is the first book I ever bought on Karate, and I now hold a couple of dan degrees. One being a Godan in Matsubayashi Ryu.
