5.0 out of 5 stars The Network Textbook, June 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mastering Local Area Networks (Paperback)
Finally! A comprehensive, and very readable guide to networks. For the novice or the accomplished network manager, this book is a must. What most appeals is the direct, no-nonsense writing style. No mumbo-jumbo geek-slang. Just a clear, concise and exceptionally well researched compendium containing every facet of network operation and management. An excellent feature is the excercise at the end of each chapter. This enables the student to test retention of the information. As a CIO, I have found this book to be invaluable in the preparation of briefings and proposals. This is a must for every IT professionals bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best network books for beginners, January 12, 2000
This review is from: Mastering Local Area Networks (Paperback)
Just in two words: it is the best such book on the market now. If you are a student or a trainer - buy it. For a student - everything is explained in very popular and understandable manner. For a trainer - it shows how to talk about networks.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Unpretentious Primer, June 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mastering Local Area Networks (Paperback)
Unlike most of the tomes on networking, this comprehensive survey does a good job of informing the reader in a natural, easy-to-read manner. Anderson seems to know her stuff and balances tech-talk with pragmatism. Recommended for the uninitiated Admin-type as a study or reference work on most LAN technologies.
