College Math Instructors--Your students need this book.,

This book includes a quiz encouraging students to "come clean" about their study habits in math classes. Then the score on their quiz directs them to specific chapters which offer practical suggestions as to how to become a better math student. Students love it because it brings their study habits up to the level needed to succeed in a math class in a non-confrontational way.

I am majoring in Mathematics. I picked this book up with the intent that it would describe specific and effective ways to study mathematic and would save me time. Instead, it gives very generic tips such as:
-Come to class on time -Dont miss class -Take legible notes -Do homework and use college resources -Find supplement material There are a few pages that talked about studying theorems and proofs. All it said was follow every step of a proof and think of what theorems relate to. This is a good book if you want generic, basic advice like that above. However if you want specific study tips to effectively learn math, keep looking.

The suggestions for study habits is excellent. I squeaked by with a C in the math course. I would have failed it all together if I hadn't tried so hard. It's not the book's fault I stink at math.

I hadn't been in a math class for years and, as an adult student returning to college, I found myself struggling in math class; failing quizes. In frustration and desperation, I searched for a book that would help me turn things around and give me a strategy on how to succeed in math class. This book made all the difference! It systematically helped me to see what I was doing wrong and what I specifically needed to do in order to be successful. It helped me address the mental blocks I would have on exams, how to study, how to use class time effectively and so much more. It's a gold mine of information presented in a clear way. I used the information from this book and, with the help of a tutor, went from failing grades on quizes & exams to passing grades. I went from thinking I would fail my course to passing my class. I would recommended this book to anyone that struggles with math. It's worth the price and more. This book made such a difference for me that I bought an extra copy to bring to my math instructor's attention in hopes that other students would benefit from the information in this book.
