5.0 out of 5 stars Straight from a beginner, March 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Mastering Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 (Paperback)
Take it straight from a beginner: this is the perfect book for you. Oddly enough (for computer books) all of the sample screens are totally accurate as you go through the actual installs of Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Exchange 2000 Enterprise. Mr. Gerber explains each small detail: Windows basic installation, then promoting your installation to a domain controller by adding ADSI, then how Exchange 2000 uses ADSI and how to install and use the MMC builder. I'm now at the point where we've gone on and installed Office 2000, made the client settings, and are getting ready to test for an Outlook client. I'm telling you, from a guy who came here knowing zip, this book was perfect for me. Thank you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just the Basics from this one., February 15, 2001

Don't expect to get tips for setting up complex, multi-domain configurations with this book. This is the bare-bones basic walk through for Win2000/Exchange2000. I really wanted to learn how to receive emails for multiple Internet domains, but no luck. If this is your first time setting up an Exchange Server in a single Win2K setting, this book is for you. This book is not useful for an ISP, ASP, or Web Host.

Other than that, it serves as a really good book for navigating Exchange 2000 basics (I was entirely new to Exchange, so I can't comment for those migrating from Exchange 5.5).

5.0 out of 5 stars Mastering Exchange Server 2000, February 21, 2001

I am not entirely new to Exchange, and this book deserves way better than 3 stars. Even more so if you are entirely new to Exchange. The book has step by step instructions on setting up Exchange and Win 2000 for a single domain. The author is very clear, and alerts you of any pitfalls, or different ways of doing things along the way. I also reccomend "MCSE Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Implementation and Administration Training Kit"
