Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

The accurate marking of quilts so as to preserve the fabric to be quilted and to create a welcoming canvas for quilting stitches is a very important part of quiltmaking--one that is usually only briefly touched upon in quilting books. Mastering Quilt Marking is the first book to cover the entire process in detail, including finding a design for the quilt top, choosing the right marking tools, obtaining stencils, marking the top, and matching borders and corners. Particularly interesting are chapters on making your own quilting stencils, preserving designs found on old quilts, and the process of quilting from the quilt-show judge's perspective. Cory also includes 12 new quilting designs. Recommended for all quilting collections.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to read and Informative, February 16, 2000
This review is from: Mastering Quilt Marking: Marking Tools and Techniques - Choosing Stencils - Matching Borders and Corners (Paperback)
What a wonderful and charming book to read. Pepper Cory writes in a easy going manner that makes a person feel like she is right in the room with you. Great ideas on making templates and marking a quilt. I love how she discusses methods of the past as well as the future. It is also fun to look at the older quilts and see the methods as well as read about them. She shows patterns and methods from all over the world, and takes the mystery out of marking a quilt. She encourages a quilter to be creative and take chances, and I plan on taking her up on it. This book is a definite must have for any quilters' library.
