Every company is exposed to risk. Some of it is intentional, such as implementing new strategies or information systems. Some of it is unavoidable, such as economic fluctuations or political upheavals. One thing is sure though. You can never be entirely safe.
Developed from the successful run in the Financial Times newspaper, Mastering Risk, Volume 1: Concepts brings you the latest thinking from some of the world's leading authorities and examines the concept of risk control as it threads its way through every aspect of business and finance management. It explains the techniques used to identify and measure risk, the methods of managing financial and non-financial risk, and investigates emerging areas of risk such as e-commerce and reputation management.
With an impressive cast of contributors including Rory Knight (dean emeritus of Templeton), Philippe Jorion, Nigel Turnbull, and Peter Bernstein (author of Against the Odds), Mastering Risk will provide you with the very latest ideas on how to master the art of risk management.
No business is risk-free. Be prepared.James Pickford is the Executive Editor of the Financial Times.

This review is from: Mastering Risk Volume 1: Concepts (Paperback)
This book appears to be a compilation of the 10 issue Mastering Risk supplement to the Financial Times. It walks the reader through a broad range of risk issues, from the traditional insurance type risks through to high level financial risks.Very readable - the chapters contain 3-5 articles each 4-6 pages long - ideal for reading when travelling by air. Excellent reference book to turn to when you need a quick update on specific issues. May become dated as many examples are specific to events in 2000.
