Book Description

November 12, 2004
VIZ Render (VIZr) is the newly designed rendering application tied with Autodesk® Architectural Desktop 2005. This book familiarizes both novice and experienced 3D artists with the process and capabilities of the ADT/VIZr tool set. Instead of getting bogged down with lengthy feature descriptions, the book focuses squarely on the process of developing projects with ADT and VIZr. Readers will learn how to use each tool to its maximum benefit, as well as why it is important to the overall process. Inherent in every chapter is a common project scenario that showcases how designs can be brought to life with stunning rendered images, followed by details of the process that are necessary to achieving those results. Packed with tips, tricks and procedures along the way, this book will have readers producing high quality results with software they already own, in no time at all!

I almost didn't buy this book as I have had previous experience in both Viz and Architectural Desktop; but, the price was right and I figured what the heck, it'll give me something to do over the holidays.

I'm very glad that I made the plunge because this book made me realize how little I did know about a very tough subject, optimizing the ADT building model in order to produce very realistic renderings with reasonable file sizes and render times. In fact, the two chapters on models is a "must read" for anyone who wants to be able to render ADT models in either Viz or VizRender.

Since both authors are architects, this book centers on producing outstanding presentations using VizRender. Their lighting techniques (both interior and exterior) and their recommendations for tweaking materials and render settings provide a clear path towards that end. It would be difficult to read this book and not become an accomplished renderer. In addition to the easy to understand text, there are lots graphics and a whole section of colored plates that illustrate the desired rendering results for each chapter. Finally, there are plenty of bonus excercises and excerpts to expand and sharpen the newly learned skills.

This book is definitely a must for anyone who wants to be proficient in using VizRender with ADT and several copies should be on the library shelves of any firm or school using or teaching those products.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Supplement and Teaching Guide, July 28, 2005
This review is from: Mastering VIZ Render: A Resource for Autodesk ADT Users (Paperback)
I took a autocad class in college and this was not part of the program. I recently purchased the entire program for myself and wanted to learn this aspect of it. This was a great help, I found it easy to learn and a great reference tool until I got the hang of the program. Highly Recommended!
