5.0 out of 5 stars The BO$$ is back! salute to Rozay!!!!!!
Mastermind is another definitive and progressive body of work by the legendary Rick Ross. Album number six is a lock to be another gold certified chart topper for the MMG bawse! 2.0 out of 5 stars Same studio rap as 10 other corporate "demographicly focused" releases
If you want to hear what corporate executives think gangsta rap then you will not be disappointed. Guns, drugs and bitches sprinkled with canned beats and the occasion reference to expensive cars.

Its something you can listen in the background that is decent enough that you aren't motivated to change the disc but wont feel the urge to bump it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BO$$ is back! salute to Rozay!!!!!!, March 3, 2014

Mastermind is another definitive and progressive body of work by the legendary Rick Ross. Album number six is a lock to be another gold certified chart topper for the MMG bawse! Haters can be mad at this record because Rozay keep putting out dope albums. Stand out tracks like " in the vein" featuring the weeknd and "sanctified" produced by kanye west is pure fire. The bawse is lyrically in boss mode. Yes the drug talk is a little tedious at this point. But expecting Ross not to spit about the hustler lifestyle is like going to a strip club not wanting to tip the strippers, it does not make sense. Ross create detailed and vivid street tales that only a boss would know. C.O background granted, a lot of rappers had past jobs before they were stars that would surprise you. Sorry haters its true (ha ha). Rick Ross is a legend period. Mastermind is another hit album for his true fans. If you like coke rap with internal street intelligence, then add this stellar album to your collection you will not be disappointed. Salute to the MMG kingpin of street rap. Rozay!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ross Delivers On Mastermind, March 3, 2014
This review is from: Mastermind (Explicit Version) (Audio CD)
After some delays, Ross finally releases his sixth studio album, Mastermind. And it features some great production as his previous albums. On the Black Metaphor produced "Rich Is Gangsta" Ross does some bragging and boasting. He also takes a little jab at 50. I'm surprised Ross even mentioned 50s name since that beef was like 6 years ago. Moving along, "Mafia Music III" is a reggae tinged gangsta joint featuring Sizzla and Mavado, and produced by the underrated Bink. "War Ready" featuring Jeezy and Tracy T is a dope song too. Its good to see that they put the beef aside and finally did a collab. "In Vein" featuring The Weeknd definitely has single written all over it. On another note, has anybody noticed that every rap song that The Weekend is featured on it sounds more like it was his song? (Juicy J's "One of those days", French Montana's "Gifted"). The soulful "Sanctified" featuring Kanye West and Big Sean is another stand out from Mastermind. Ye delivered in his verse while Sean held down the hook.

Ross samples some classic Hip Hop songs on Mastermind too. "Nobody" featuring French Montana and Diddy is a cover of Biggies "You're Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You)". Ross even borrows Big's flow on the track. "What a Shame", which also features French, borrows some lyrics from Camp Lo's "Luchini" and ODB's hook from "Shame on a n****". And "Thug Cry" featuring a focused auto-tune less Lil Wayne samples Souls of Mischief's "93 `Till Infinity".Mastermind also has its share of flaws. Jay Z steals the show on "The Devil Is a Lie" by addressing the illuminant theories and Barneys controversy. Ross' verse was forgettable."Dope Bitch" (Skit) was supposed to be funny, but it ends up falling flat. And "BLK & WHT" was a disaster. Was Ross actually trying to sound like (400 Degreez circa) Juvenile on the hook? Seemed that way to me. Flaws aside, Rozay continues to prove why hes a Mastermind in the rap game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Street album!!!!!, March 3, 2014

Rick Ross love him or hate him is an incredible rapper! That much cannot be denied. Couple that with his uncanning ability to pick beats along with the song structures and concepts Ross delivers like he's never done before! This album is a classic and Diddy deserves some of the credit I believe for bringing the best out of Ross for this product! Every track is instantly appealing making it one of my all time favorite albums!
