4.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to mathematical thinking, November 4, 2006
This review is from: Math Mastermind Kindergarten (Paperback)
I am a math teacher and my 5 year old daughter loves this set. She frequently asks, "Daddy can we do some more math?" which melts my heart, of course, Most of the activities are pattern matching and shape recognition. We string beads using a color pattern, build snap cube objects that correspond to the picture in the book and make pictures from pattern block type sheets of foam. She is developing a healthy appreciation for math as an exploration of geometry and patterns without drilling any of the rote learning that turns so many children off of math. Each activity has several questions for adults to ask of the child such as "How many triangles are the same size?" but adults should feel free to make up more questions as they seem appropriate.

I have a bright 4 year old boy who needed to start learning math. He attends preschool, but I felt he was ready for this Kindergarten edition. I know absolutely nothing about teaching kids or math for that matter. This makes it so easy. Everything you need is in the kit. It also gives the parent plenty of guidance in how to coach the child. My boy went through several pages in the activity book alone today. Tangrams, beads, patterning. He absolutely loves it. I had to make him give it up tonight as he worked way past his bedtime. Thank you for making such a great product. I'm going to purchase the 1st and 2nd grade set now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun AND Educational, June 24, 2008

My three - year - old is showing an affinity for math, so I bought him this set about a month ago. He absolutely loves it! The activities are arranged well, and include tips to help parents test the child's knowledge. My son is adding, subtracting, and learning about geometry, and he can't get enough of it! I would highly recommend this for kindergardeners and math - oriented preschoolers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it; great value for the price, January 3, 2009
This review is from: Math Mastermind Kindergarten (Paperback)
I am so impressed with the math foundation that these sets are building (we also own the other 2 levels available). I would have gladly paid 5x the price. Includes all necessary manipulatives, workbook, teacher's guide, activity book, as well as a CD that you can print the workbook pages from to reproduce them legally. The activities seem like a game to my daughter, she doesn't even realize how much she is learning. Love it! I only wish they made higher levels as well.
