4.0 out of 5 stars Good Teacher Resource, April 1, 2006

I am a Middle School math teacher(5th - Algebra)who likes to inject a little humor into class. I was able to use some of the skills sheets in this book tied to what I was teaching in 6th grade the day after I received the book. The students were engaged with the activities, particularly with trying to find the answer to the riddle. The worksheets will be good for review, for homework, or for quizzes as a means of on-going assessment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool for practice, September 14, 2011
This review is from: Masterminds Pre Algebra: Reproducible Skill Builders and Higher Order Thinking Activities Based on NCTM Standards (Kids' Stuff) (Paperback)
I am a former special education and math teacher and I'm in my 21st year of homeschooling my children. I've tutored math for 30 years now. I use the Mastermind series to reinforce what I've taught. The pages are motivating and though the jokes are a bit corny, my students and my own children look forward to finding out what the answer to each riddle is. Each worksheet is a great way to reinforce skills while having a little fun at the same time. Each page usually (but not always) provides a clear example. Skills are incremental. An example is one page is about adding simple fractions with like denominators and the next simple fractions with unlike denominators and the next, mixed numerals with like denominators and the next, mixed numerals with unlike denominators. If there is anything I could complain about it would be that it would be good to have a few more incremental steps and a few more pages. These books are well worth their price if you are looking for practice, review and reinforcing worksheets with a little fun thrown in.
