5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
If you are at all keen on Gregorian chant music this is a wonderful version of that type of singing with modern, rather than medieval songs. It is haunting music. Very relaxing. I have played this over & over & never get tired of it. I can thoroughly recommend this CD

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Different from Traditional Chant Music
Although I have not even heard the entire length of each song, just judging by the samples heard, they are modernized versions of Gregorian Chant music. And I find them straying way too much from the traditional versions of this genre. I much prefer hearing only voices in the background, without any electronic-like instruments or sounds added to it. Just as classical...

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely and absurd, March 22, 2007

Good gregorian chant singing songs by Simon and Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, Metallica !!, others. They have more than one disc.

I thought they pulled off this stylistic "mashup" very well. I don't know how seriously you can take the words - it isn't a worship aid. But it is interesting and well done.

I played Nothing Else Matters to my prayer group and some of the younger participants almost fell off their chairs laughing, while others (older people) thought it was nice.

This not the chant that one is used to , but is a wholly new way of presenting beautiful music. It is pleasant to listen to and does jar on the senses.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Pleasant Surprise!!, December 10, 2007
This review is from: Masters of Chant (Audio CD)
I was buying several Gregorian Chant selections when I inadventently purchased this one without realizing the full extent of the contents.
A wonderful surprise. I'm back looking to buy the last 2 CD's they produced. If you like Gregorian and a wide selection of other music you might well enjoy these. I have made this my number one driving CD. The music is unique in it's chamelion-like blends. Best I've found in quite some time. Enjoy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The first and still the best, April 7, 2009
This review is from: Masters of Chant (Audio CD)
The first release for Gregorian: Masters of Chant and still the best of the series I've listened to. They hit the right notes with old favourites and classics.

Wonderful choral group produced by Frank Peterson, that was originally associated with Enigma and branched out---excellent album that I recommend highly. Great song choices. 2009 by Curb Records.

Ordered through Amazon.com which got the Audio CD, to me, on time and in prefect condition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, November 22, 2010

Ok, I must confess, the reason I bought the CD is aiming for Track 4 only (Moment of Peace) because it involved a duet with the world famous Sarah Brightman. I also like the special extended version of "Sadness Part 1". And the other tracks....there are still ways to improve in the singing style when it comes to pop music. 5 Stars for the CD:- 1 Star for the selection of music, 0.5 Star for the Gregorian & 3.5 Stars for Sarah! :)

And I find them straying way too much from the traditional versions of this genre. I much prefer hearing only voices in the background, without any electronic-like instruments or sounds added to it. Just as classical music should not be "modernized" by accompanying it with so many synthesizer or electronic guitar-like sounds, so should Gregorian Chant music be left alone.
