5.0 out of 5 stars this book is awesome!

3.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating book
Compared to other artbooks, this one seems to be printed on lesser (less quality) paper. The pages are black, which is not very usual, thus rather fascinating or unusual.

As for the artworks, I believe that too much space is wasted on the newer artists works, although the elder ones already have books that showcase their art. Some decline in art nicety is even...

This review is from: Masters of Dragonlance Art (Dragonlance: Artbooks) (Paperback)
This book contains several absolutely gorgeous pictures... not that any of them are anything less than stunning. Any fan of Dragonlance, or even just fantasy art would love to leaf through this book-lots of fond memories. It also contains bios on the artists, and some feedback on the art; nothing overly extensive, just a few notes from the creator to augment the ideal of the pictures.

However, the real point of this book is that the art is outstanding. It won't improve your knowledge of the fantasy series... but it will give you a lovely collection of its art, and some minor history of its development. It will also give you the proper book titles so you can find those few books that you managed to miss in your searches for more excellent side stories.

Even the "Spectre of the Black Rose" cover picture is included (twice actually) that creepy picture of Soth being my personal favorite. Even Art director Ryan Sansaver said it "Kicks [butt] !"
So I highly recommend it. Buy it! Share it with your friends!

Rather nice buy though, and I recommend it to anyone who has the money to purchase such a piece of beautiful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars good book for fans, January 5, 2012

If you are a big fan of the Dragonlance volumes, you will definitely like this book. The artwork is spectacular. The only negative would be that many of the portraits are from the secondary stories, so you really have to be familiar with all of the novels to appreciate the entire book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not As Good As The Art of Dragonlance Book, December 15, 2011

Maybe I'm just more nostalgic for the original Dragonlance series but I found this newer art book lacking when compared to the much older "The Art of Dragonlance."

There are a few images taken straight from that book in this book but, for the most part, Masters of Dragonlance Art seems to focus more on the post-Legends series (which I did not appreciate as much as the earlier Weis/Hickman collaborations). There is also a disturbing dearth (if not absence) of Larry Elmore's works (whom I consider, along with the late, great Keith Parkinson, to be the true artistic masters that defined the look of the Dragonlance universe).

If you're a fan of the "old school" Dragonlance, this book is probably not for you. If you enjoy the newer installments to the series or just want to collect anything Dragonlance, this lightweight book may be just your thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent artwork, November 15, 2010
My sister gave this book to me from her book club as a gift, and I love it! While I haven't read all of the books in the Dragonlance series, I do enjoy flipping though this book and marveling at the details the artists put into the paintings. Their little comments on their artwork, too, is funny. It just brings a visual effect to a good series of books.
