4.0 out of 5 stars A second opinion...
In contrast to the review by Young Fogie, I'd like to put in a pitch in favor of this album... Sometimes it's *nice* to hear the live, radio work. If the studio versions can be heard elsewhere, what's the harm in *also* having live tracks available? I agree the sound quality isn't always top-tier, but it's still a cool historical document of one of the all-time great...

3.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware! Radio Air Checks....
Unless you have everything else the Delta Rythm Boys have out on disc, I'd say look (carefully) for studio recordings. Unless you have everything else the Delta Rythm Boys have out on disc, I'd say look (carefully) for studio recordings. I didn't realize I was purchasing radio air checks, which, vary markedly in audio quality and recording level. I was really anticipating this arrival, hearing a few studio recordings on AM radio, having been blown away by their rendition of "Take the A Train".
Still, the Delta Rhythm Boys talent is quite evident here, and they do take harmony to another level, utilizing their voices with instument-like phrasing. Yet I feel duped for I wasn't expecting 5 cuts w/Mildred Bailey, and some of the poorer recordings rob you of the whole DRB experience. I would (and will) seek another DRB disc, but will be a more careful shopper.
