5.0 out of 5 stars A collabo made in heaven...Kool Keith and Motion Man
Honestly, I didn't know what to expect from this album. Kool Keith is always trying different styles and flipping techniques and personas, it's hard to call it. But I was thoroughly impressed by the off-kilter design of 3 deranged minds. Kutmaster Kurt did a remarkable job with production, especially on Bronx-Bay Bridge(my favorite) and East-West Hustlas. 3.0 out of 5 stars Back up kid, we all over!
Has Kool Keith been better? Yes! Has Motion Man been better? Yes! Has Kutmaster Kurt been better? Yes! However, this triumphant trio, better known as, Masters of Illusion, comes fully equipped with zany rhymes (Motion Man), indestructible flows (Kool Keith), and of course, stereo friendly sounds (Kurt).

Back Up Kid, Masters of Illusion, and Let Me Talk to You, are the...

I would just like to give all of the songs their just due. This is an album you can let ride on through without skipping. I own just about every Kool Keith album there is, and I would say that this is one of his best. Most think he hit his high note on Octagon, but in my opinion, Dr. Dooom was just as good without the Automator. It rests next to those in my book. Cop this one yo', you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars What is he doing!!!!!, January 16, 2001

How can he do this? Why is Kool Keith dropping phat albums and not telling anybody? I only found out about this doing a random search on (...)! This is his best album since Sex Style and in fact better than that. Not to sleep on Motion Man he is fantastic on this CD as well.

The beats are excellent, straight up Hip-Hop. This is the kind of album I have been waiting for from Kool Keith in a very long time. The beats are nice and Kool Keith's flow is on point as usual. Not just for Kool Keith fans but for any real Hip-Hop fan. What more can I say? Time for me to stop gushing and for you to reach for your wallet and buy this album.

Go for yours!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining, December 13, 2000

If you like Kool Keith, you'll love this. Its the best this year. Better than Matthew and Analog Brothers in my opinion. With guest DJs like Revolution, Babu, and Rhettmatic, the album is even better. There are no guest rappers and that is a plus. You get the full expertise of Kool Keith and the outstanding rhymes of Motion Man. Kut Masta Kurt knows what he is doing.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Kool Keith, April 16, 2003

I am a fan of Kool Keith and I feel this is some of his best work. Kutmaster Kurt does an awesome job on the beats and Keith and Motion Man mesh together perfectly. Its nice because instead of one mc, Keith and Motion Man trade rymes back and forth creating a very lyrical cd with two great personalities. The beats and rymes are fun and complex. This album is a must have for any Keith fan. Peace

5.0 out of 5 stars ILL, June 18, 2002
This review is from: Masters of Illusion (Audio CD)
This is required listening for true hip hop heads. Kool Keith proves once again that he is the most creative, interesting and innovative MC in the game. Motion Man rips some truly incredible rhymes and stands tall next to Keith, which is a feat. Kut Masta Kurt's production is ridiculously on point. This album is funny, scary, entertaining banging hip hop. One of Keith's best!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kool Keith and Motion man know what they are doing, July 18, 2001

This CD is sick. Kutmasta kurt comes out with some sick beats that go good with the flow of the lyrics. Kool keith throws out some of his best rhymes and motion man rips it up too. YOu should get this if you are fan of any of keiths work or are in search of something new rather than that lame stuff they play on the Mtv. peace!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best ever, April 6, 2001

Be the first to tell your friends about Mo'tion Man- the guy is pure charisma on the mic. Anyone that can hold his own against Keith has gotta be good, and if anything, Mo'tion is the star of this alblum. Aside from Mo'tion, this really is Kool Keith at his best, and Kurt Master Kurt proves he can produce with the best of em. This is quite simply one of the best hip-hop alblums out right now- buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Contains 18 Vitamins & Minerals, April 1, 2001
This review is from: Masters of Illusion (Audio CD)
See that box of cereal on the cover? It's delicious.

This LP will easily be scooped up by any Keith fan. Fresh new beats are high in vitamin B and C2. Insanely crisp Motion Man verses available for a limited time; send three UPC's along with tight production and scratches to address listed on the opposite side of this box.

Best if purchased by April 1st, 3005.

4.0 out of 5 stars ABOUT time..., November 20, 2000

Yo... i was really happy that this cd came out to be as good as it is. "matthew" lyrically was there but the beats only came off decent and a few were nice, and that held it back from being a really good cd.. Analog brothers was better but should've had more of Keith and Ice T. that's what held that cd back. Masters of illusion is just Keith and Motion and these two really compliment each other well. I like just about every track except for maybe 3.. and that's like track 10 (which i know i'll never like) and six and like one other. My favorite track is "the bay-bronx bridge" that song has the old school feel too it with an old school type flow and the beat is TIGHT. the notable songs are "souped up" "we all over" and the hidden track is also tight... reverend tom gets out on that. every song has a nice beat to it and the lyrics are on point for every track.. this cd is a definite must have for motion and Keith fans.. as well as anyone who wants some real hiphop.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much better than I was expecting., October 21, 2005
This review is from: Masters of Illusion (Audio CD)
After all the crap I've been hearing from Keith lately (Analog Brothers, Dr. Octagon 2, Thee Undertakerz, Lost Masters), I pretty much lost all faith in him, but this record slipped right under my nose. I'd never even heard about it. I came across it here on Amazon for $4, so I figured why not? Well, I was very pleasantly surprised. It's obvious that when Kurt teams with Keith, they can do no wrong. While it's far from being Keith's best, this album has sick flow and sick beats to back the flow. Keith and Motion both do a good job. The best tracks are definitely "U Want Freestyle?" and "Step Up". These two tracks alone are worth the four bucks I paid. There are a few weak tracks, but I would only deem about three of them as un-listenable. Which is pretty good, considering the 20 something tracks that are un-listenable on all of the albums mentioned above. I do like Dr. Dooom a lot better though. I compare only because it is basically the same trio (Keith, Kurt, Motion), and I notice that there's a cut from "Housing Authority" from the Dr. Dooom album in one track. I find that any album that Keith has made before 2002 is worth a listen. If you see a Keith album that was made in 2002 and above, avoid it at all costs (except the ones done with Kurt). So that means I have one Keith album left to hear: "Sex Style", which is gonna cost me a pretty penny. Anyway, if you're a fan of Keith, Kurt, Motion, or just plain hip-hop, check this album out.
