2.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelming..., May 18, 2009

This review is from: Masters of Invocation (Audio CD)
I'll give them two stars for trying, but the album limps along, sounding primarily like an attempt at drone music with bubble-goff instrumentation, and commonplace halloween sound-effects samples.

Passable production, but uninspiring and unmoving sounds. At it's best moments, it's reminiscent of Wraiths and some of the more active Nurse with Wound material, but the tracks lack the compositional coherence that makes such material succeed. The invocatory texts are seem badly formed, self conscious and frankly try too hard to impress a 13 year old shoe-gazer, not the invoked.

Ambient? Sure. Dark? In a vaguely Disney's "Haunted Mansion" way, maybe.
