5.0 out of 5 stars excellent artists!, May 19, 2004

I don't understand quite where the other reviewer is coming from. This is a treasure-trove of piano music by some of the best classical pianists of the last century. If you want a musical anthology of some of the best by some of the best, pick it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Listened to over and over and over again, January 8, 2011
This review is from: Masters of the Keyboard (Audio CD)
The selections are superb on this 2 CD set that spans the centuries. The composers are varied and representative, and the pianists are absolutely tops. If I were banished to a desert island and could take only one CD, this would be it. Expect high quality on every song, although there are differences that you will notice, since recording conditions include both live and studio, and studios vary. However, there is not a single track that's a "throw-away." Another plus is the chronological ordering, so that by the time you have gotten to the modern pieces, you've been prepared by all that went before. Pure enjoyment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the best....., May 25, 2009

This may be the best overall cd set of piano classics. Top performers, (Argerich, Arrau, Kovacevich, etc.) great choices in classic compositions, and typical great sound quality from DG once again. Great buy!
