If you are very new to holdem, you will find some useful information here. If you are intermediate or advanced you will probably be disappointed. He includes ultra basic information like holdem structure and blind position. He goes through the rank of hands. Then later he tells you that you will need good judgement in certain situations. If you need to review holdem structure and rank of hands, how could you possibly have developed good judgement in tough situations? You will simply not have nearly enough table experience. Not well thought out in my opinion and probably a pass for almost all intermediate or better players. I am a big believer in "truth in advertising" and if the title would have been "Phil Hellmith Teaches Holdem" or "Intermediate Holdem" I might have rated it as high as 4. Given Hellmuth's WSOP successes and other high tournament finishes there is no doubt he is a great tournament player, but most of his success seems to be feel and intuition which is very difficult to teach so you are left with middle of the road information here.

Also, it is not a "poker" DVD it's a "holdem" DVD. He only really talks about holdem. If you are considering buying it and have Netflix, definitely view it before you decide to buy it; you will probably be happy you only rented it.

I got this and some other Hellmuth videos shipped by mistake. The seller, when told of the mix-up, sent the correct merchandise and said that I could keep the Hellmuth DVDs as compensation for my trouble.

This whole series is just terrible. If you want a series of DVDs that cover the fundamentals, I can suggest the Ultimate Poker series with Vince Van Patton. They're pretty good.

Avoid these like the plague.

This is the first dvd on the topic i've bought so I dont have much to compare against. It felt really short, I would have like a bit more depth especially in the pot odds category. Seemed straight to the point, wish it focused only on no limits as it goes back and forth diluting it a bit. Production cost looked super cheap although content is way more important to me anyhow.
