I was really impressed with this book from the very first pages. Although I pretty well know it belongs to a series of well over 250+ books published by Kennel CLub Books,Inc -- this book does not, and I really mean it, does not appear to be a "standard-type-of-book". In fact, the book opens with 30+ pages of well documented history of the breed that are a real MUST to every Mastiff fancier, but this is not all.There are so many interesting old photos and past time's references. Same applies to the Characteristic's chapter -- so informative! If you read carefully the section on Everyday Care (particularly on Feeding & Dietary needs) and that other on Training, you will soon be aware that the book is written by a real EXPERT. I also enjoyed very much the Puppy selection and care section -- very accurate and helpful indeed. Therefore I would like to express my hearfelt thanks to the author and wish she goes on writing more books for this publisher or any other.

This book is by far the best. it gives thorough information specifically for mastiffs. it has a place for records and gets down to all the particulars about the breed!

This book provides a good overview of all topics related to Mastiffs. A great book for someone interested in the general history, care requirements, and peculiarities of the mastiff breed. The photos are nice, and this is a fun book to pick up and browse through. Lots of quality information can be found within, yet the breadth of information prevents a truly comprehensive approach. Still, a good value overall!

A wonderful book about a wonderful breed! This book offers some great insight to caring for, socializing and training your Mastiff and definitely helped me as a first time Mastiff owner!

This is a must have for any Mastiff Owner from the beginning owner to the seasoned breeder. It is extremely informative and Inspirational.

The book is exactly what the title says, "a comprehensive guide to owning and caring for" a Mastiff. As a first time Mastiff owner, I was curious about the breed history, it's physical and health traits, and proper training needs. The information in the book was invaluable as I would have likely caused my dog bone health issues later in life had I not read it. I expect my "gentle giant" to provide me love and companionship for many years to come.

This book is a great place to start when it comes to the new mastiff owner, but in terms of training you will definitely need another book to give you more detail. The color pictures are great and the information about picking a mastiff puppy is very descriptive and very helpful. Overall - great book.

This book is all about the Mastiff from it's history to how to socialize them. The book tells you what you need to know so you can keep your mastiff in good health, believe it or not these giant dogs do have some special needs! This book tells you how to ensure you have picked a good breeder to buy a pup from how to choose a good pup. How to train your mastiff. Need I say more? If you want to get a mastiff read this book it will help you more than you could ever imagine.

I found this book to be very helpful as i looked into adopting an English mastiff. This book is a great starting point for anybody planning on purchasing a Mastiff. It is a must read for new owners. The only negative if any is that i was looking to adopt a 2 year old mastiff and the book had limited information on older mastiffs the bulk of the information was for puppies but i still found it highly relevant and it help me to determine important questions i needed to ask the person i was adopting from. all in all its a good book.

This book was very useful and informative. It is also written in a manner that is easy to follow so it was quickly to get through.
