UPDATE 1/26/09: After owning these trays for well over a year, I have discovered a small flaw in their operation. The problem is that the area inside the cube's mold where the soft silicon meets the hard plastic is beginning to fray or come apart. This results in small pieces of the light blue silicon being attached to the ice cubes when you pop them out of the tray. I've begun checking each cube for this when I pop them out, but this is a hassle and seems like a design flaw in the product. I am deducting three stars and giving this product 2 stars as a result of this discovery. At the prices they are selling these trays at, they should last longer than a year without degrading.

I didn't think much of this tray when I ordered it, but it has greatly exceeded my expectations.

Although most people would think that $10 is too much to spend on an ice cube tray, I feel that this tray is well worth the money. The ice cubes are easy to remove by pushing on the bottom silicon portion of the cube mold.

If you are tired of dealing with cheap plastic trays that never release the ice, buy this one!

I highly recommend this ice cube tray for freezing homemade baby food. The lid just sits on top, so it doesn't get stuck and is tall enough that it doesn't smash the food being frozen. The food "cubes" are super easy to get out if you just run some warm water over the bottom, then hold the tray upside down over the lid and punch the flexible bottom of each compartment - the "cubes" just fall right into the lid! Very convenient! The compartments only hold 1/2 oz. each, half the size of standard ice cube trays, but that just makes it easier to defrost, so I don't see that as a negative. I originally ordered two of these, but for the bulk of food I make, I think I may buy two more. (Just as a clue for how much they hold, one pureed sugar pumpkin filled up two trays with a little pumkin left over.)

This product is a good idea. The flexible bottom to each well makes it easy to get individual cubes out without cracking them and the tray lid stops the ice from subliming away or absorbing freezer odors. However, it is $10 for an ice cube tray! Also, the cubes it produces are a little small.

We first obtained an iSi ORKA Freeze and Press Ice Cube Tray through a store where my wife works on weekends. The trays have a flexible bottom area for each ice cube. You press the flexible bottom, and the ice cube is released into the holding area (which serves as a top during the freezing process). I use the "heel" portion of my hand rather than my thumb to release the ice cubes. No more breaking ice cube trays & having to replace them! The trays nest together securely while the ice cubes are freezing- this saves space in your freezer. I'm getting more so I can throw away the old-style trays for good!

Soft silicone "push button" bottoms make the cubes simple to come out with a soft to medium press.

The cover keeps the ice from absorbing odors. The cover also lets you pop out cubes while the tray is still closed and then safely take it off upside down and have a separate, flat tray to pluck cubes from instead of having the tray hover over your glass and hope the ice falls in.

The design makes it to where you only take out amount of cubes you want. No more avalanches. No more random cubes popping out. No more ice on the floor.

The trays are not only stackable, but they also interlock, so you don't drop a tray.

Things you will never have to do again:

-Wait a couple of minutes.
-Run the tray under warm water.
-Bend the tray back and forth.
-Kill your thumb removing cubes like with other silicone trays.
-Wipe up spilled water.

I bought two of these. I will be buying a couple more in a few weeks.

This is perhaps the worst ice cube tray ever conceived or manufactured. The walls of the cube mold are not sloped, so when the water expands as it turns to ice, it locks firmly in the mold requiring the finger strength of a male gorilla to dislodge the cube. Also, the top surface of the tray does not have interconnecting "gutters" between cube molds, so one mold might overfill while another mold is underfilled. The excess water then serves as a fantastic adhesive to bond the ice cube tray cover to the tray during the freezing process. It may be a worthless piece of true rubbish, this ice cube tray, but at least it is one of the most expensive on the market. If you enjoy punishing yourself, this is the ice cube tray for you!

For years I had a problem with ice-cubes disappering from the freezer due to evaporation. These covers keep that from happening, and they stack very well, fitting together. A worthwhile purchase, indeed.

About the only good thing is that they stack well. That said these create really small ice cubes which are difficult to remove from the tray. I am a good sized guy and these wear me out having to individually "force" each cube out. Not worth the price/effort for the small cubes.
