When I fisrt bought this game, I though it would be great, because I like BMX more than skateboarding. In this game, there is no incentive to play through all the players because all of the tricks are pretty much the same. The bikes handle the same way, also. After you win a gold metal in both competitions, you receive an "ultimate bike". There is no point because when you get it, your whole career is over and there are no more new levels or secret levels. The only special character is the grandmother and that's it. You can't create custom players or earn money to get better equipment. Also, on most of the levels, the objects are too spaced out to get any really high scores. You spend most of your time crusing empty space.

Kinda fun... but it's no Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2,

I was pretty excited about this game. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is my all-time favorite game and so I pre-ordered Mat Hoffman BMX as soon as it was posted and had high expectations. I've got to say that I've been pretty disappointed. The controls are difficult to master, not intuitive like THPS2, and there are far too many control variables. The gameplay is OK (nothing special) and the levels seem really small. The most disappointing thing is that it doesn't have the sense of fun that the Tony Hawk game has. No special rewards for finishing a character, no secret levels, no Spiderman. Nothing fun to work for. No imagination.

Mat Hoffman BMX,

When i first played the game, i thought it was the worst thing ever. The graphics are horrible... The levels are boring. The challenges [are bad]. Everything about this game [is bad] except for the soundtrack. If you want to buy this game, i strongly suggest you go and buy Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX instead. Dave Mirra's game is awesome and will keep you playing for a long time.Other games like this: Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2, T.J. Lavin Freestyle BMX

Everyone will be rushing out to get Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX, because they think it will be the same game as Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. However, this game is more like the first Tony Hawk Pro Skater game. You go through courses, performing five tasks (getting a high score, finding a secret, collecting five letters of TRICK or doing something special), to get you a "cover" (like a video tape), these covers just make you advance further in the game, there is no sort of cash system to purchase new tricks, bikes or stats. With that being said, the gameplay is easier than the PC version of Tony Hawk 2, but it is no where near as smooth, the animation slugs down sometimes when in an area with lots of detail (it does it for all computers, not just mine). It is also immensely easier to grind in this game than the PC version of Tony Hawk 2. The courses are really spectacular BMX bike trails not just your run of the mill schools and warehouses. The Skate Park editor is the exact same as in Tony Hawk 2, same ramps, trees, gaps, rails and so on, so there is nothing special there. The music has a big hip hop groove to it instead of punk, rock and metal. The game also supports all major PC controllers from a specified list.

Complete copy of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. Only difference; the tricks but they are still almost identical. Also much harder.
