La Mat Multi-Purpose 16 1/4 Inch x 24 1/2 Inch Silicone Baking Mat

I bought this to place under any type of food that would normally stick to a baking sheet/pan, so as to avoid adding extra grease/oil to what's being cooked on a sheet/pan. This mat works fabulously for that purpose.

My only complaint is that the one I received does not have the measuring marks on the black border of the mat. On the product's box it says "Border includes a convenient measuring guide," and you can see this on Amazon's pictures of the mat too. But mine didn't have it - the border on my mat is completely black. Either false advertising or bad quality control (for a non-essential feature) takes away 1 star from my rating.

I purchased two of these mats with the idea of giving one as a gift. After using one, there was no way I was going to let the other one go! The mats work perfectly and make clean-up a breeze.

I purchased this mat because of the measurements and the size. It was very close to what I needed, though I knew it would be about 1/4" too long. No problem, I can just cut it, right? Wrong. Nowhere on the product page does it say it is made of fiberglass. This means that cutting it would be hazardous to the food on which it is prepared. Not only that, but one way or the other, it will eventually become hazardous as the silicone coating wears away and exposes the fiberglass. If you have no problem with fiberglass, then this is fine for you. However, I give this a low rating for an incompletely labeled product.

I use the mat for rolling out dough and it works perfect. Unlike some of the reviews mine has all the numbers down the side. I just regret not getting the bigger size. It rolls up neatly and I can hide it in any cabinet.

I consider this kind of a gimmicky product. I bought it for my wife about 3 month ago. She uses it for a variety of things. The problem is that it offen takes longer to clean the mat than it ever took to clean the pan. If you like to cook bacon in the oven, forget it! the mat ends up being a greasy mess and takes 3 attempts to come clean. If you have your heart set on buying this type of product the quality is fine but I can't recommend it due to the difficulty to clean in certain applications.

This mat is awesome, I've used it for cookies and crab cakes and it allows them to brown without chunks of the food sticking; - the mat is so easy to clean, and you need no butter/oil to bake on it. Great buy!

Mine DID have the measurement marks, unlike someone who got one without them. Mind did not have the "La Mat" insignia--fine with me. The mat seems good quality--it contains a fiberglass mesh inside the silicone for durability. It seems to adhere well to the counter for kneeding dough.

nice and big!! but still fits my counter. (not some dinky little mat without any working room.) but it may be too big to use in your oven--measure your oven/baking trays first. i got it just for counter use.

The safety inspectors said that we needed a flame proof surface under our toaster and toaster oven at work. This was just the perfect thing. The size was just right to go under both items. It seems like a good quality mat. I haven't tried cooking with it, but I think it would work very well.

Matt is as it is shown. I baked the mat for 3 hours at 200 C to get rid of the plastic smell.
I recommend washing the mat (dishwasher at high temperature) and then baking the mat for several hours, below the maximum working temperature, to outgas (remove) any un-polymerized chemicals within the mats silicon material. Make sure you do not exceed the maximum temperature noted on the box or the mat will melt. You will notice a smell, this smell is the chemicals outgassing from the silicon material. This will make the mat safer to use when cooking. Note that this is true for any silicon baking mat.
