Singles and the church—a match made in heaven? Singles and the church go together like grilled steaks and vegetarians.
It’s true that singles don’t fit in the church—at least, not in the family-focused church we know. But maybe that’s not what the church is supposed to be. Maybe God has something else in mind for His church, the Family of God. Maybe God has in mind a place where everyone belongs—and that includes you!
This engaging book dares you to believe that things can, and should, be radically different between singles and the church. There is a way you can make the dream come true.
“Essential reading for singles looking for their place in the church and for church leaders wanting to welcome them.”
—Albert Y. Hsu
Author of Singles at the Crossroads
“This book identifies missed opportunities and mistakes on all sides and provides a blueprint for building a stronger, richer, more Christlike church family."
—Jeanine Hill
PR professional and single adult church member
“In the growing body of Christian literature for singles, it is refreshing to find a book that looks beyond dating or personal contentment and considers Christian stewardship of singleness and how it fits into God's larger plan.”
— David K. "Kelly" Fath, Jr.

A compelling and timely recommendation,

This review is from: A Match Made in Heaven: How Singles and the Church Can Live Happily Ever After (Paperback)
A Match Made In Heaven: How Singles And The Church Can Live Happily Ever After by Wendy Widder is a compelling and timely recommendation of how unmarried, divorced, and widowed parishioners and the Christian church can and should serve one another better. Though the community churches have traditionally been family-oriented, an unfortunate yet common occurrence is that these churches have begun to substitute programs for relationships when it comes to the unmarried. A Match Made In Heaven is an inspired and inspiring exploration of positive alternatives to enhance and strengthen the bond of the single person with the rest of the Christian congregation through the auspices of the community church.

This is an exceptional book, chock full of wholesome theology and good humor. It is difficult to read this book without feeling challenged to give more to the church and those singles who are often left out,and yet the zingers are packaged within such funny anecdotes that they go down quite easily. Bravo to Wendy Widder. May she continue to write more insightful prescriptions for the church.

The mix of personal insight and experience with biblical references opened up the subject in a whole new way for me. The familiar style made it an engaging read while writing about what is in the bible and it's interpretations made it enlightening. Highly recommend this author!
