5.0 out of 5 stars Best seller material
I just finished reading the book, I couldn't put it down. Now I know that I am not alone in my dating difficulties. How refreshing to read about all these people who have been meeting all these "Not for Me" guys, and more than anything else, how refreshing that the matchmaker herself who is a pretty girl and has the pick of the litter has the same dating disasters as I...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disapointed
I was excited to get this book. I thought it would be a funny cute look at matchmaking but it wasn't. It mainly showcased alot of insecure, desperate clients and a picky matchmaker who says up front she isn't going to be a matchmaker for unattractive awkward people who haven't had a date in years. She instead chooses wealthy, neurotic, superficial new yorkers who order...

5.0 out of 5 stars KILLER BOOK!!!!, May 2, 2005
This review is from: Matchbook: The Diary of a Modern-Day Matchmaker (Hardcover)
I don't see how anyone couldn't love this book. Its fun, relatable and hysterical. The woman who wrote it is very self deprecating in a very cool way.... I thought she was so funny. I was reading paragraphs aloud to my friends on the phone. You should read this book-- it has lessons in it but mostly its a very enjoyable read!

I just finished Matchbook and I had to write a review. I loved it!!! It is so funny and so real. My friends and I kept calling each other on the phone and reading sections outloud and reminiscing about all those guys we have gone out with who are exactly like the characters in Matchbook! I have dated Looks Good from Afar guy definitely and Dr Touchy-- been there done that and it was soooo bad! If you are dating and looking to meet someone, no matter where you are, this book with make you feel like you are not alone and will give you alot of laughs! Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect rainy weekend book!, April 4, 2005
This review is from: Matchbook: The Diary of a Modern-Day Matchmaker (Hardcover)
I spent the weekend reading Matchbook. It was perfect for a rainy weekend. I loved all the characters especially the Girl who I always thought hated me, Dr Touchy and Miss Reporter. I thought all the characterizations were right on. I learned alot about myself in this book and will probably date differently becuase it. Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you need a book to read on vacation, this is the one!, March 21, 2005
This review is from: Matchbook: The Diary of a Modern-Day Matchmaker (Hardcover)
I just went on vacation with my friends to Mexico and we all read Matchbook while we were there. I bought it and finished it on the plane, 5 hours- cover to cover! Then each one of my friends took their turn, and we all laughed and took turns reading parts of it out loud. It is so funny, I can't even imagine that the author can write that funny. And to think that its based on true stories is insane. Phone sex afte the first date from the taxi cab, the guy who eats salad with his fingers, the guy whose cuticles are so knarly that the girl is afraid she will get an infection in her privates, Dr Touchy, etc, etc. Oh my god, hysterical!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally! My life..., January 28, 2005
This review is from: Matchbook: The Diary of a Modern-Day Matchmaker (Hardcover)
I got a copy of Matchbook at a book signing party and after scanning the room of beautiful, successful and interesting 20- 30 somethings, I was dying to read this book! I stayed up most of the night reading and couldn't stop smiling! I was able to totally identify and couldn't stop wondering....did i know these "desperados"??? Did I date Mr. Married Single? I definitely knew Miss Gold Digger! Dating in NYC is quite an interesting & all too often comical challenge...all of my frends have their endless stories that we always said should be in a book. Finally, I found a book where our stories actually exist!

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, enjoyable read, April 5, 2005
This review is from: Matchbook: The Diary of a Modern-Day Matchmaker (Hardcover)
I picked this up on a lark and was very happy with it. It is an enjoyable read that will inform you on lots of interesting matchmaking techniques. If you ever want to see what goes on behind the scenes and want to see what makes people click, then this is the book for you.

As someone who likes to play matchmaker for her friends I became very involved in the "stories."

This review is from: Matchbook: The Diary of a Modern-Day Matchmaker (Hardcover)
I thought this book was a slam dunk. I totally related to it as a single girl. So many of the characters were my friends and guys I have gone on dates with. Its amazing how well the author knows the single world. I only wish I lived in NY or LA so I could hire her to be my matchmaker. I have reccommended this book to everyone-- its so funny. I couldn't put it down. Thank you !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT MATCH, THIS MATCHBOOK!, January 28, 2005
This review is from: Matchbook: The Diary of a Modern-Day Matchmaker (Hardcover)
I never reviewed a book before but I really loved this book, so I had to write something. I just got it yesterday and I am already finished but wish i had read it more slowly. So enjoyable, a true love story, great characters, great scenes, even some advice along the way. I am a dating girl and sometimes I think I will never meet anyone, but this book gave me hope. I wish i could hire someone like the author to help me. Buy the book, it might help you but most of all, it will be supremely enjoyable reading!
