Matchbox Sky Busters Aircraft Carrier Playset

I honestly wondered how much play value my recently-turned 6-year-old son would get out of it. It seemed so simple. What would he do with it? Well, thankfully I was wrong. He loves this thing!

What does he DO? He uses his imagination. The airplane takes off and lands (with the requisite noises that planes need to make), he shoots with the missile launcher. In other words, he plays. How foolish of me to forget that's what kids should be able to do. They don't need to be entertained. They can entertain themselves.

As with all Matchbox cars and other toys, they get left on the floor, and somehow we stepped on the plane. The wing broke in half, but we were able to super glue it back.

He is enjoying it so much that I purchased a helicopter to go with it (it comes with one airplane).

(In my 8 year old son's words...) I love how this toy has storage space for planes in the bottom of the carrier, just like with a real carrier. I like using the missile launcher to shoot a missile at a plane while I fly it over the carrier. I don't like how the planes are not life sized compared to the carrier (they're of larger scale size than what the carrier is.. my son gets technical about these things). I like the features of the carrier, but I wish it had lights and sounds. Unlike some other toy carriers, this carrier can not launch a plane.

My four-year-old son LOVES toy airplanes, especially Mattel Skybusters. I bought the aircraft carrier for him last Christmas, and he plays with it almost every day. I love that it opens to expand the runway for play and includes storage space inside for his toy aircraft for when he's done playing. It's even got a nice handle on the long edge that allows for easy carry. We'll probably let my son take it on our next long airplane trip because it's so compact and fun.

In general, I've been very pleased with the quality of the Skybuster line of toys. They are reasonably priced and sufficiently sturdy. My only complaint (minor) would be that I'd like to see more new aircraft models and fewer differently painted copies of the same model.

I found this at Costco for the Christmas holiday season. It came with a rather large cargo plane, match box size navy fighter plane, helicopter and 2 jeeps for $36.00. Our son LOVES everything that this came with. The aircraft carrier itself is fine. Our son loves the rockets on it. If you find this in the same package we found at costco, then I'd have complaints about the cargo plane only. The doors are kind of hard to open and it takes me a few minutes to line them up just right and snap them shut. The ramp that pulls out from the front is a bit persnickity in that you have to pull it out "just right" and goes back a little tough. Our son has inadvertantly pulled off the front doors a few times and needs help with the ramp. The back door opens OK but is a bit flimsy.

Great toy for the money, havn't tried it in the bathtub or pool yet, but I hope it floats when my son tries it!

We just got this today and my son was jumping around so excited! He played with this toy for hours! Good toy for the money and am very pleased with the purchase.

My son had been asking for an aircraft carrier for Christmas from Santa. I wasn't sure what Santa had planned but he made me aware that he had some budget issues and couldn't give the larger, more expensive aircraft carriers out there. Fortunately, Santa found this one on Amazon which is more compact (travels easier) and fairly durable. I didn't like putting all the stickers on but it wasn't a huge issue. My son really enjoys playing with this one.

My son grew out of matchbox cars a few years ago so I was nervous about spending a lot of money on this product, however he really wanted something for his WWI planes he collects. This turned out to be perfect for spurring his imagination, also the older neighbor kids have enjoyed using it for battles. Good purchase. My only con is that it does not seem very durable, the tower falls off repeatedly and the hanger door easily pops off the hinges.

This toy is not a very good one. It is quite small - much smaller than it seems in any product shots online. The skybuster planes are too big for it. You can fit one or two on it and it seems a little weird because the scale is so far off. The missile launcher is cool - probably the only positive thing about it. I would not recommend this toy at all and certainly don't think it is worth this price! My 4 year old son, who was so excited to get an aircraft carrier, NEVER touches it! Piece of junk! I am only giving this two stars because of the missile launcher.

My 4 year old son loves this, likes to play battleship with it. It has handled and all the rough play. Great toy for the money.
